Airtran rewards question

When are rewards awarded to your account? Is it after you travel or after you purchase your flight?

Also, a friend wants to take his baseball team to Florida for spring break. Can he book via the group travel and use his A+ number to get credits for all of the flights? He will be writing one check for the entire group. This ties in with the first question... he wanted to know if he could use the A+ credits on the same flight that they bought the tickets on to defer the cost for his coaches...

Airline travel rewards are credited to the person who flew after the flight, regardless of who paid for the ticket or when it was purchased.

I am sure it is done that way to avoid the exact situation my friend is proposing.....
