Airtran November and December Prices!

So we've been checking Airtran for quite a while to see when and for what prices November and December flights will open. Not sure how long ago they opened them, but prices for our November and December dates are through the roof! No joke, they are over 4 times what we paid for our spring break trip. Any chance they will go down? We won't have time to drive in November, and our daughter will be marching down Mainstreet on Thanksgiving day.

Any thoughts?

TIA!:goodvibes

I checked this morning and they were still booking through 11/2. Just realized about 20 minutes ago that it was updated and one round trip ticket for me in early December is almost $1000!!! And I need 3. Hopefully they come down.

My flights are listing for about 900 round trip from Philly. Hope they go down in a few days. I just can't believe another countdown is here...countdown to book at 11 months, change at 7 months, airfare 6ish months, adrs, etc...can't wait till we are just counting down to leave!!!

Seeing the same through Delta. Airtran pulled out of our home airport so don't have many options left. Delta is running $450-$700 per person RT.Needless to say, I bet were driving. Southwest isn't open yet but it is usually and right now 2x's what Delta and Airtran was.

Baltimore to Orlando - 940 each way. What in the world is going on??

For Airtran, we will need to wait a few days for the lower prices to show up on the website.

Exactly. This is very typical for Airtran when flights are first released. The prices will change several times before they settle into a "normal" range. Keep watching, they will definitely come down.

I just saw the AirTran prices and almost had a panic attack! I was all excited because I have enough points for DH and I to have a free one way each and a one way back is currently more than 4 times what we've ever paid, and what I expected it to be!

I'm also hoping the prices come down! If not we may be looking to do a one way on another airline, or even, *gulp* DRIVE back one way.

Here's to hoping PP's are right and the prices will settle down.

I did check and noticed that Southwest has not released their November/ December dates yet, so maybe things will come down once that happens....

FWIW, I just checked to see what a one way from Orlando back to BWI on AirTran would be on our return and it's showing $105.00 on Travelocity and Expedia - I think PP was right - the fares are going to go down on the AirTran site

I check fly.com and kayak.com and AirTran.com faithfully everyday. We are going from Boston to Orlando on December 26th, and returning on Jan 2.
So you can imagine how excited I was yesterday when I checked on fly.com to see 280.00 round trip! But when it linked me to AirTran's website, it was about 4000.00 for our family to fly! I am so frustrated! Did I miss it? Were they low, then went up? When I go on fly.com today, it says 302.00 round trip. I say great...but when I log into AirTran, same thing...INSANELY HIGH...What's the deal?

We just need to wait til they come down some. Maybe in the next few days as Southwest's are released tomorrow

I saw the low fares on expedia and thought I hit the jackpot, but low and behold they are not bookable!! :sad2: Now I keep checking AirTran hoping they drop and I don't miss the low fares!! :surfweb:

Guessing they will drop on AirTran first? Hope so!!

As prior posters have said, this is for some reason par for the Airtran course. When they initially load new dates, they load only the highest fares---fully refundable, etc. etc. Over time, other fare classes are added.

I have no idea why they do this, but they have done it for years now. As far as I know, they are the only ones. In another year or two, when their operations are folded entirely into Southwest's, this will be a moot point.

Just checked prices on the airtran site and some have dropped alot, but not all. Waiting.

Now I am really scared of Southwest fares tomorrow. Since Southwest owns AirTran also.

I may be flying United - it is still over 400. rd trip + the bag fee butthat wouldstill beat AirTran current price for the lowest fare.

That has happened to me a couple times. When Expedia or Orbitz is different than the airline website, it usually comes up not available when you actually try to buy it.

Me too! I have some miles to use with SW. I hope they available early so I can just book and get I over with (if the price isn't too high).

I actually just booked with airtran for our Thanksgiving vacation...leaving from Philly! I got our flight down for $121 pp... it was too good to resist! I paid just under $1300 for 4 of us! :goodvibes

I just booked our airfare- we had rewards seats for our outbound on AirTran and our return flight came down about $300.00 since I checked it last night - so all in all I got round trip for 2 adults on AirTran from BWI for about $300.00 :cool1:
Now all I have to do is save spending and meal money for our December trip! :goodvibes

Of course, I realize it would have been way more without our "rewards" seats but I'm happy over all with what we have.

Awesome! Congrats! I booked one way. My fare dropped to $138. Hoping southwest comes through today with the other half!!

Edit added later - and BOY did southwest come through!! Booked the whole roundtrip on SW on points. Cancelled Airtran.
"We are going to Disney World!!"
