I have been waiting for Nov rates to come out and now that they have I am shocked, one way from PIT to MCO is almost $300...normally it is in the range of $79-$129 plus taxes and fees.....now this is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, does anyone know if they could be why? Thanks in advance.

Because it is the Sunday after Thanksgiving...sundays earlier in the month the cost is only $109

You know that's what I thought at first too, BUT the saturday after Thanksgiving is a reasonable price...anyone think it will go down?

I got a better deal on orbitz than I did Airtran's site!! My DD has her tickets already but I was waiting on Airtran (we are leaving from different cities) and nearly "croaked" when I saw the prices. Dayton OH market was same price on Sat and Sun flights.

I think Sat/Sun not the best time to book tho either. Too many folks surfing and buying and the industry knows they can get an "extra" dime :teeth:

I just found tickets for half the price on expedia and travelocity as well....called airtran to see if they would match and they wont, and they also told me I can not use my miles until 11/30 (would work for the flight home later in the week). I jut need to buy fares one way, I have enought credits for 2 free fares coming home....although our travel dates are flexible.

I find Airtran is always higher further out and then the sales start. They are an airline where you need to know what the good price is for a particular flight and then just check everyday. It's amazing how much their flights jump up and down over the course of a few weeks.

Keep in mind that Southwest will be flying PIT/MCO, maybe when their rates come out AirTran will go down to compete.

I agree with this. We bought our Pres. Week tickets (wed before, return the friday after pres. day) for the only non-stop when they came out. Much later the prices went down and I rebooked for the same flight for a credit. I should have waited. I wasn't sure what the prices should have been for prime flights. Also, the credit had to be used one year from original purchase, which didn't leave us much time at that point.

We've always booked our November flights on Air Tran in August. That's when the fares have been the cheapest. Once in a while you'll see a special at Thanksgiving, but it's very last-minute.
