We are leaving for Disney world in 32 days! The wait is driving us crazy! Anyway, has anyone ever had a problem with AirTran losing their luggage? We have never flown them before and we have to connect in Atlanta. Thanks for any info you can give me! :sunny:

Last year my brother-in-law used them from PHL to MCO and someone at PHL really screwed up They didn't load anyone's luggage on the plane. Everyone got to Orlando waiting to pick up their luggage and no luggage!!! PHL sent it down on a later plane.

I have flown them quite a few times with no problems. Anyone flying should pack a carryon with some of the things you will need that first day in the event your luggage is lost or delayed. It makes good sense no matter what airline you fly.

Day after Pres. Day '05 they lost 1 bag of ours (& denied that it was ever checked in even though we had claim number). Insisted the bag was delivered to PIT even though we alerted their staff when we arrived that it was missing.

Actually, turned into our homeowners policy waiting for settlement when I received a call from a nice lady in Flint, Michigan.

She had my bag sitting on her porch for a month & got sick of calling AirTran to come & pick it up. She was missing a bag too. She actually tracked me down by calling the Hard Rock Hotel, who's luggage claim #sticker was still attached to the bag. The concierge called me & asked if it was okay to give her my phone #:teeth: . note to self, put an index card inside all luggage w/personal info!

Don't think she ever got her bag back, poor thing. As for me, after prolonged & intense negotiations w/AirTran:blush: .....my bag magically appeared on my front porch 2 days later & we received RT vouchers for all in our party for future air travel.

Mostly annoyed because I had to buy new phone, digital camera & video chargers; that aren't covered under replacement issues. They, & a few odd personal items, were the only thing missing from the bag. All of our WDW/U collector pins were left untouched (?).

We still fly them, figure it's the luck of the draw. The Today show reported that all carriers are reporting more lost luggage issues.:confused3

Just a word of warning to everyone. You shouldn't have valuables in your checked luggage.

I never considered any chargers valuable...until I had to pay to replace them.;) While homeowner's policies cover lost luggage, less deductible; there's a very long laundry list of exclusions.

I carry the chargers in my carry on. But then I don't go anywhere without my cameras. :)

Smart! The person I talked to @ AirTran found it funny that the bag was full of lots of different cords but, when you add up chargers for 3 different cameras, video recorder, Gameboy, cell phones, dvd player & outlet extension/strip to plug it all into - they add up. Will definately carry them on in the future.:thumbsup2

Safetymom, you make a good point about packing a carryon with things you need. My brother-in-law did not and did not receive his luggage for two days (long story, AirTran delivered them to the wrong hotel, they were sent back to the airport, finally got them on the third morning of their trip). AirTran did reimburse them for $25 per person per day, but some of the hassle could have been avoided had they packed their carryons more carefully.

YES Luckily on the way home! One bag was lost for 3 days. Did get it back. Also, a smaller bag was completely destroyed!
Flights were dirt cheap.
Won't fly them again, unless.............they are dirt cheap!
