Airtran discontinuing service at ABE August 12th UPDATE: Frontier coming 5/26!!

According to the Frontier website they will fly ABE-MCO on Tuesdays & Saturdays. Prices look great - $89 each way.

Just plugging in random dates but it looks like services starts in June.

My trip is in December. Who knows - they could add more flight by then. Airtran started out with just a few flight too. Then they had one every day. I am so happy! :thumbsup2

This is true. When AT was new they had a similar schedule to Allegiant - 2-4 flights per week, and only once on those days. AT has been running 2 flights every day for the past year almost, so the demand is definitely there.

Ok so who has flown Frontier? Any comments?

Now what to do with all the AT A+ Rewards points I have...grrrrr.....looks like I will upgrade to Business Class on Sunday if there's room, and maybe purchase some magazines with the rest!

I am not liking the return flights!! I looked at June and the return flights from MCO depart at 8:30 am. :scared1: That means Magicial Express would be picking us up at 5:30 am?

Maybe the two flights a week is just to start? Maybe they will start offering more flights once AT pulls completely out in August?

I'm doing AT in April and agree with you all that it's SO much better than Philly.

Allegiant did add a couple of flights from Bloomington to Orlando but they are not flying into MCO - they are flying in and out of Sanford.

I didn't even realize that! My apologies. Our options for flights are not looking very good. The return flight from Orlando also leaves at 7:30 ish which sounds awful

I would spend that night at the airport hotel.

Frontier is coming to HIA too! Four flights a week to start--Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Since many of us took the time to complain to AirTran and Southwest when the announced the discontinuation of services, it's only fitting we let Frontier know how excited we are about the new service. Hopefully they'll get lots of positive feedback with gentle suggestions (like 7 days a week!) and bump up the number of flights at both airports quickly.

AStamm......took your suggestion and emailed Frontier thanking them for coming to ABE and MDT.....got a response from their customer service team within an hour. So, for all of you ABE and MDT folks.......please let them know we appreciate them picking up where Airtran left off.......I've signed up for the Frontier frequent flyer club already.......and don't really want another credit card but......they're offering a nice chunk of bonus miles .....actually I believe enough for a free round trip from ABE to MCO for the $59 fee.....oh well...have to think about it...maybe I'll cancel my Southwest cc and sign up for the Frontier one!!

That's a good idea Donna, to email them with a quick thank you! I'm going to go do that right now!

I went out on the Frontier website and thanked them too...we are very excited to have this new option for nonstop Orlando flights

:goodvibesAnother happy camper here from the greater Harrisburg area! We have a trip scheduled for Oct. and were going back and forth about driving to BWI or flying USAir out of MDT. Now we have four direct flights available and the days work nicely with our schedule. Hope they can keep the fares at a reasonable price, too.

Anyone have any experience with Frontier?

It is great that Frontier is comming to the PHL regional area, it will help keep SW in check with their price increases since we will have other low price options again. I have gone to BWI before, MDT is no further.

Another :thumbsup2 for Frontier coming to ABE. I hope like other that they add additional flights and that they change their departure time leaving MCO to later in the day. Who wants to leave Disney early in the AM:sad2:

It looks like their plan is to fly the plane roundtrip. MCO-ABE in the morning then ABE-MCO back, then on to other cities. If they left MCO in the evening, they would have to overnight the plane and crew at ABE, which they probably don't want to do. I guess you have to decide if you want to take this or look elsewhere.

Frontier published their flights through mid-November, but they are still only flying twice a week. Flight times are the same. I don't think I can do the return flight home - 8:30 am is just way too early with ME picking us up three hours before that time. I am afraid they won't get the same business that Airtran did because of that departure time.

I did email my concerns to ABE today. They said they would forward my email to Frontier.

kar0066-Let us keep our fingers crossed that they do add more flights with better return times back to ABE.:thumbsup2 We are going back the beginning of Dec. I have done a split between MCO and Sanford but Allegiant also leaves at 8:30 a.m.:sad2:
