Airport to Resort Transportation?

Hi all new member here!

we are in the very early planning stages of a Disney trip, covid dependent we are hoping to visit in Oct 2022, I'm the super anxious type and like to over plan and plan early!!! DH and I have both been to WDW a few times as kids and we went once together as adults (2011) but have never been with our kids.

We will be flying from Toronto Canada to Orlando International and I am wondering about child friendly transportation choices now that Magical Express is being cancelled... at the time of our anticipated trip our girls will be 8 and 5 years old so they will still need booster seats for a vehicle and I'm not thrilled about the idea of lugging boosters through an airport for them to then sit in our resort room (planning to stay at AoA or ASM) for the entirety of our trip... does anyone have suggestions? I've read that Minnie Vans supply 1 car seat but haven't found anything about booster seats? Does anyone know if booster seats would be required in an Uber/Lyft?

I've never had an Uber or Lyft insist on a booster seat for my daughter--she's 7 now and tall so that makes sense but even when she was obviously in the age range for some sort of car safety device no driver said anything. That said, I did purchase a "Bubble Bum" blow up booster seat off Amazon for a trip to Hawaii when she was 4 and that worked really well. It elevated her to the height needed for the seatbelt to sit appropriately on her shoulder, but it also collapsed into my purse for traveling. Amazon stills has them, looks like, for $29.99. Maybe get one for the 5 year old? I'm sure the 8 year old won't be questioned if you're comfortable.

Also--I'm sure someone else will say this--Disney very likely will have some sort of other recommended, endorsed, or managed service by then!

Consider a car service with booster seats if your children are small.

Otherwise the bubble gum or mi-fold might work.

Welcome to the DIS!

Your trip is so far away that I honestly wouldn’t even spend a minute thinking about this right now. The landscape will be so vastly different that any advice you get now will surely be outdated and not helpful in 20 months.

For instance, the Minnie Vans have been discontinued (for now?). Hard to say if or when they’ll be back. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see a paid Magical Express alternative. Just hang tight and see where things are in a year.

Under Florida law, I don't believe your 8 year old would require a booster seat. The 5 year old would.

MinnieVans are no longer running, so what they used to offer is irrelevant.

Lyft does not offer any vehicles, in any category, with child seats.

Uber does offer vehicles with ONE child seat in the Orlando market, and the seats can be used either as a full car seat or booster. That category of ride is available for both X and XL. You would need XL with two children because of the new Covid capacity limits. A car seat vehicle is shown as a completely different type of vehicle, and there is an increase in the fare as a result of the car seat.

If you want to check availability and pricing for car-seat vehicles, use your Uber app and set the pickup point at MCO.

Long before Disney contracted with Mears buses to run Magical Express I had taken Mears buses for a fee. You will be able to reserve transportation with Mears and pay per person. Same buses same drivers.

you are right that it's too far away to worry about, my anxiety gets the better of me and I have a hard time dealing with the unknown. I like to know exactly what is going to happen at all times lol. #anxietybrain
