Airport Security ?

I will be traveling with a teenage boy (not my child, a friend of my child's) who has a titanium hip from a car accident. Will the airport metal detectors go crazy when he walks through? Should I tell someone ahead of time? He has never flown before and I would hate for him to be embarrassed.

I broke my leg a couple of years ago, and I have a tianium rod all the way down my left leg and also 4 screws. I have flown several times since then, and I have never set off the metal detectors. I do have a card that was given to me by my Orthopedic Surgeon that I carry with me in my wallet. It has my name on it, and states that I have a metal implant device that may set off metal detectors. You might want to see if his doctor can get him something like this just in case.
