Airport Hyatt

DH just asked about the cost of staying at the airport Hyatt the night before our next land and sea trip. I went out to the Hyatt website, and saw a room for 3 adults and 1 child is $164. I know that some people get much better rates there. Do they use priceline.com or something like that to get a good rate? Is there some sort of a code that gets me a better rate?

Usually we stay at either the airport Mariott or Hilton Garden Inn with points, but the Hyatt sounds very convenient and I presume its a nice hotel based on comments from the board.

If you have AAA there are usually rates around $120 per night available. I HAVE been able to get the Hyatt on Priceline but there is no guarantee. I was lucky to get it for $25 per night in December 2001, but that was during the post-9/11 travel slump.

We stayed there in March for 83.00/night. (Internet special on their web site. I just booked again last week for December and the best rate I could get was 119.00/night.

We are staying for 2 nights before Disney western cruise in October for $ 63.00 nite, tax included. This was an internet rate that you had to pre-pay.

We are staying there 2 nights before our 5/25/03 Wonder cruise. Got reservations on Priceline for $36 per night. It is under the 3 star category.

I reserved it a couple of months ago for this Nov 29 for $83 Internet rate...heard about it right here in this DCL board!

I wish I was brave enough to try Priceline for this hotel! I'd be afraid though that if I didn't get the Hyatt on my bid, I'd be stuck because we don't pick up our rental (already book at a GREAT rate) till the next morning so I'd have no way to get to the hotel and back to MCO if Priceline came up with a different one than the Hyatt! But $36 made me VERY tempted to try!

We just got back from WDW and stayed last night at the airport marriott from priceline at a rate of $25/nt. i believe that the marriott will pickup from the airport, so you can get a ride back to the airport to pick up your car, or take a taxi - it's not even a couple of miles.

We have stayed at the hyatt before too and it can't be beat for convenience. I believe you can buy certificates off the website for $99 stays.

How far in advance did everyone make their priceline.com bid? We go in December and want to stay near the airport the night before. We won't have a car, so how do we ensure that we'll get hotel with shuttle transportation to and from? We've used priceline before, but never for an MCO hotel.

With the people on this thread that booked the Hyatt with the internet special did the Hyatt charge your credit card at the time of booking?

The reason why I am asking we booked the internet special of $83 months ago and still the charge has not posted on our credit card. I am wondering if they charge you $50 if you cancel the resv prior to 72 hrs or are they just holding the cc to just guarantee? I would like to know if they ran your charge through due to I am wondering if I need to call the Hyatt.

They have not yet charged our CC and we booked back in January, so I don't know how they could charge a $50 cancel fee?

I booked my room at the Hyatt two weeks before we left and it was $112 per night. When I had looked at their own website in March/April they were quoting $150+ per night. I would keep an eye on their website for special deals the closer you get to the date of arrival.

It was so convenient for checking into the hotel. We just got the elevator down one floor and we were at the security check in. Nice

PiperG - is this trip the one your counter is counting towards? If so, trying to book a hotel 270+ days in advance is likely the reason why you are getting such a high rate. The hotel business is all about supply and demand. Right now, they cannot predict the demand for a date so far out, so they are quoting a high rate. Wait until about 60 days out and see what you get.

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt in November, and while I used points to pay for it, at that time I remember people were getting a rate of between $50-$100 depending on the week.

I booked January 16, 2003 for November 29, 2003 and got the Internet rate of $83 and now it's already gone up...could go down, but it's gone up for now.

I wanted to thank everyone for the feedback. DH and I decided to wait a bit and see if the Hyatt rate goes down. Its hard for me to have this part of the trip not yet planned, but I am sure everything will work out fine.

Keep your eyes on the Hyatt website. Last summer/winter they had a $75 rate (AAA special) that included breakfast. Today they added the stay two nights and earn one night with a MasterCard. You just have to enroll in their points program which is free.

I'm going to watch out for this, as well. We'll need a night at the airport before our December 4-day. I hate to spend too much on this part of the trip...it's bad enough airfare is so expensive! In fact, if it weren't for the high prices of air, we'd probably cruise more often.

We may resort to priceline.com for our night-before...Barb and Tony seem to do okay with their bids. You can't beat a 4-star for $28/night. I'd just be worried I'd receive a hotel that didn't provide transportation to and from the airport.

We are staying at the Hyatt the night before sailing 6/7. We are coming from Universal the day before, so we are not flying in the day before. Since I have made my own reservations at the Hyatt, but purchased the Disney shuttle to and from the port, do I have to notify Disney, or do we just show our confirmation sheet and get on the shuttle? If we just get on, what times can we board? Do they just run back and forth all morning at the airport AND the Hyatt? Thanks for clarifying this!!

There was a post ages ago from someone who told the Hyatt they were cruising the next day. It seems they lost their luggage. They recommended taking the luggage yourself I think to the floor below baggage where the DCL buses line up. You can then see them put right on the bus. Others have stayed there and Hyatt has not lost anything. Perhaps we can get some input from other Dis'ers. I'm still a little confused and staying there in June. How far is it if we take our luggage ourselves to the buses? Wher are the buses? Can a porter help us from hotel lobby? HELP!

I am pretty sure that the luggage does not go on the bus; they have trucks for it, so this is not really an option. From there, it goes to the port, and then to your room.

Perhaps we can get some input from other Dis'ers. I'm still a little confused and staying there in June.

We stayed there before our Nov. cruise. When you check in, you tell them you are a DCL cruiser, and the desk clerk will give you an instruction sheet. Basically, you put your luggage out by your door after a certain hour in the am, and the porter comes collect it. If you are concerned about that, then you can call the bell desk when you are ready for it to be picked up and they will come take it then. (We did this not bc of nerves but bc US Airways had lost our luggage the night before, and we didn't get it until about 10 am.) You just have to make sure your DCL tags are attached.

Frankly, this went very smoothly and was a real convenience. And you should have seen the amount of DCL luggage in the hallways on that Saturday morning, it was comical. DCL uses the Hyatt for its guests coming in from the West Coast, and it looked like our entire floor was cruising with us.

Can someone tell me what the room was actually like? Did you have a runway or atrium view? If you had a runway view, did you have a balcony? Was the pool nice, noisy, etc? Sorry about all the questions but I'm getting really excited!! (BTW I requested a runway view on one of the upper floors so my kids can watch the planes.)
