We were on the ninth floor overlooking the runway for Southwest. There is a small balcony but no chairs on it. Also, there is a railing that is pretty high so I'm not sure if your kids could see the runway from the balcony without being held up.
The pool is on floor 6 and although not big there weren't a lot of people on the Saturday we were there so it was sufficient for the six kids that we had with us.
I most enjoyed being able to have the bags ($1 per bag charge) brought to the check in desk. The porter also mentioned that you could use the cart for free but would need to return it to the hotel. We chose to pay and not have to worry about running back to the hotel lobby.
