I used the Airport Bus from the Paradise Pier Hotel to LAX. We made only one stop at the Disneyland Hotel, to switch buses (one to LAX and one to John Wayne) and pay $19.
When I first arrived at LAX, I went to the "green" island outside baggage claim and waited/looked for the Airport Bus but never really saw it. I think it comes around every hour or half-hour. I waited an hour and then took a shuttle (Mickey Mouse's Super Space Shuttle?). The shuttle kept making frequent stops around the airport until it was full. It was cheaper, $15, and at the time seemed easier than the Airport Bus. But the return trip was a nightmare. Take the Airport Bus and ask about where to pick it up at LAX for a cheaper round-trip ticket. Cliff
Airport Bus....no no no, bad human. I use to be a travel agent and I never even offered the bus as an option due to it's bad record with clients in our office. Twice they left the luggage storage area open and luggage was littered down the highway . Super Shuttle...good for 1 or 2 people traveling together. Limited stops. Taxi...if more than 2 people easier on the wallet, $32, one stop....your hotel only. Also when you are returning to the airport you decide when you want to leave not the bus or shuttle company. They run on a set schedule and take into consideration stopping at other hotels to pick up other guests. Where with a taxi you leave at your schedule.
Without a doubt, it's the easiest way to go. There's no need for reservations, little or no wait at the airport and there's no having to leave the resort 3 or 4 hours before your flight. Also, on the return back to the airport, at least at the GC, we didn't even have to call for a taxi....they have them sitting right out front. It took all of 30 seconds for the taxi to pull up and whisk us away!
We had 4 adults and way too much luggage so we had a van. The drivers on both trips were friendly and helpful.
In June I was quoted $80-$100 (Depending on traffic. I guarantee if they can find a jam and keep that meter rolling, they will.) to get to Anaheim / DL from LAX by the cabbies. They were also adamant about running on the meter when I tried to negotiate a flat rate.
We were only going to John Wayne airport so it costs much less, but you might want to check with the hotel you are staying at. At the GC, Guest Services gave me a coupon for the $32 flat rate.
I was told that in normal traffic conditions, even on the meter, it shouldn't run more than $32 (and it didn't on the trip to the hotel, that's exactly what we paid) but the coupon at least guarantees that if you get stuck in traffic you'll still only pay $32. I have no idea what the flat rate for LAX is.
Just checked their website and it is 80.00 one way for the taxi. Guess I will stick with Super Shuttle. We have also rented a car but didn't want to pay for parking this time.
