If your child is asleep while the plane is descending do you just let them sleep? Dr had mentioned how important it was to drink from bottle/sippy cup during this time because of the discomfort with the ears. Sorry if this is a silly question. :)

DS(now 4) has flown around a dozen times, first time around 9 months on a business trip that was close to grandparents. I did not wake him up on the way down but we always try and keep them up on way up. Just made sure had a bottle with favorite drink......... I can think of only one time when ears were an issue with either child. Good Luck!!!

let them sleep!!!!! their ears will be adjusting to the pressure changes, and if they can sleep through it, all the better. plus - my kids are crabby if you wake them up, which is no fun. do have a bottle/sippy ready to go for when the child wakes up.

We always let our kids sleep. Also, for some kids it never even bothers them. You would hate to wake them, and potentially have crabby kids for nothing.

I always let sleeping babys keep sleeping when possible.

We have flown with babies a number of times. It is always better when they are alseep! :goodvibes

We normally nurse going up and down, but only if they are awake and want too. I will let them use a passy and take a cup with water if they are old enough for it.

Good luck. We are flying with a 17 month old in a few months.
