? Airplane ears???

I remember reading somewhere on these boards about airplane ears? Were could I get them? If it was walmart what department? I am hoping to get these for my dd's.

I believe they are called "earplanes." I have seen them at Walmart in the health care aisle. Good luck finding them.

Earplanes are little plugs that go into each ear canal and regulate the pressure. You can find them at Target and most drug stores and run about $5.00 a pair. It is recommended you replace the pair after 2 uses. I never fly without them, they really DO work.

I found mine at a local retail store near all eyeglass/foot care/canes/medical area. I use them first time flying. Warning:do not shove them too far down your ear canal due to nervousness.(first time flyer) Haha, i found out the hard way that it hurts. When the cabin pressure pushes on them, it takes some time for those lil filters to "equal" out the air... so there is no pulling them out for awhile. Also once you land.. leave them for a good while once you exit the plane. I waited 5 mins.. grabbed one and just *poped* it out.. :::uch:::: That caused me irritation, so Im not sure if they worked well for me or not do to my misuse. LOL

I just bought my Earplanes for my upcoming trip. Got them at Walmart for $4.23 a pair plus tax. That's the best price I've seen for them. They definitely do work. I wouldn't fly without them.

Since you're buying these for your DDs, be sure you buy Children's Earplanes for them and adult ones for yourself. The boxes look similar, so be sure to look for the word "Children's." Good luck!

I'm not sure I want to use them if they hurt taking them out. And how about a little 2 year old? How in the world will I get him to leave them in? LOL

My DD has been using them for several years (after her first very bad experience flying) she swears by them/ They don't hurt going in or out. If the 2 yr old pops them out during the flight, just pop them back in when your landing. My DD has done this and they still work.

Questions. (never used them):

When do I put them in?
Take them out?
And should I leave them in for the entire flight?

If you find them in the store they should have a lil paragraph on "how to use" but if I recall correctly place them in on the plane before take off. Ive heard once the pressure has equaled out and your at a cruising height i believe you can remove them or leave in. Your choice. Then about 15mins or so before you start to descend you place them back in and dont remove them till a few mins after you have exited the plane. Each pair are good for two "take off and landing". Becuase the tiny filters then become "junked" up from the cycled air. As previously posted above if they are for your child make sure you get the children sized ones.

I've found that the child sized ones work better for me as well--I have tiny ear canals I guess, and the adult ones are too big and are actually painful!
