Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Revised:
Skipping two back pocket trips out of the Country and looking for only one.
Youngest son might be throwing a wedding in next year.

So
All this winter weather has me thinking that i need to plan better for next year.

I am going to try to plan one here local next Nov ,,, just an hour or so to Niagara Falls.
3 day get away.
We love many of the hotels there and enjoy going out to breakfast as a family.
Maybe a spa visit ,, Butterfly conservatory,, Casino Niagara and the Annual Christmas light display.

I am hoping they have a local Christmas Market next year.

In my back pocket is
Jan 2027 ......................... need a week to 10 days warm winter getaway,,,,,,,,,,,,

I hope to pay for as many things as I can by using my Airmiles and Scene+ points
That surprise $100 Disney gift card I found on my last trip really came in handy as well as all my Starbucks Gift cards.

So what's in your pocket for 2026/ 2027

My pockets (front and back) for 2026 are pretty much set in stone. Cruise to west coast of Norway up to the Arctic Circle in May and then a cruise through the Panama Canal and down the west coast of South America as far as Santiago Chile.

I'm thinking we might also pop out to visit cousins in Winnipeg sometime this summer.

2027 I'm thinking a last minute cruise through the Caribbean (somewhere) for a winter break and planning the second half of the South America cuise from Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires Argentina. Might switch out the South America cruise for a cruise around the UK (England, Scotland and Ireland) Still deciding. Most of that will depend on what the MRI of my knee says (when I actually get to have one, currently on a 6 month waitlist).

I've got to get my serious travelling in while we are still in our 60's.

Oh my Gosh Ottawamom

Such wonderful planning and exciting destinations.
You have turned into quite the cruise explorer/adventurer,, good for you!
Yep no time like the present.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy and good MRI.

unfortunately , there's nothing that the foodbank would want from that list and zilch that we use either 😕 however, Frederick is thirsty enough to get 20L for one mile and hubby's out of M & M chicken pies for the in-store offers that happen tomorrow so that will get me a few miles. I have a few online lists waiting as well, not sure if I'll be able to get the full 25 to maximize the offer but I'll give it a try!

My pockets for 2026/2027 are:

Late May 2026/first of June 2027 - WDW for husbands' 50th birthday trip. Pop century (our fave) and 4 park days, 2 non-park days and 2 travel days.

Possibly Late August 2026 - a trip to TO for a con (FanExpo). Haven't decided if it's worth it yet. It's hard to justify flights + hotels to TO when for "a few dollars more" we could go back to WDW... But it'll be nice for a change to go on a non-disney vacation. (We're in NS).

Late 2027 - looking at going on my first WDW trip without husband. My 45th and my sisters 40th birthdays both happen in Fall 2027, so I have suggested to hubby that I want to offer to take her and asked if he would be sad to miss that trip, and right now he said no.

We use scene points on our travel credit card to cover travel expenses charged to the card, so I can get our hotel "free". And sometimes a flight deal or WDW ticket deal if I use air miles, but lately I've been trading in points as soon as I get enough for $100 Disney GC's, so I hope to have ~$800-1000 in gift card before each trip. (Or use those for WDW tix).

I have no more travel plans. Need to figure that out I guess. I know this summer I want to focus on some time for myself, instead of playing chauffeur for kiddo. I've been seeing a lot of people doing various hiking tours, in England on the Cotswold trail and things like that. Sounds like a lot of walking but something I might like to do.

Next winter I will for sure need a sunshine break, I may do a cruise, we'll see what things look like then. Kiddo was ok for a the time I was gone this trip, and he'll be even older in a year, but a cruise puts me at sea and unable to get home easily in an emergency. However, an all inclusive sounds boring lol. Maybe in a year kiddo will decide he wants to go on a trip.

AM for Disney GCs paid for $900 CAD of my trip. And it was really nice to have that bonus. I also had some starbucks GC's but I really only used that in the airport so wasn't as helpful. Now I have nothing specific to save for. But I have noticed they offer a lot of different GC's which is nice.
