Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Looking for information from any and all Porter experts. I was checking out flights to Orlando and Porter seems to be the less expensive option for when we are going. I want to book using AMs for the bonus offer.
My questions are, it will be DH and myself, each with one suitcase and a carryon. What level would be best? Do you pre book seats? Is there an extra cost? At MCO does it use the new terminal or the old ones?
Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Never really paid to much attention to Porter.

New terminal at MCO. the only issue we had was we did check bags and it took a long time to get them, but I don't think that's a Porter issue, that seemed to be an airport issue.
We flew Reserve which was nice but not necessary, it includes checked bags, carryon and seats at the front of the plane with more leg room, and also drinks and meals (cold meals). Not sure the price difference with the other levels. When you check their flights they show the options and what is included in that level. If your seat isn't included you can pay to choose it. I liked that it was 2 x 2 seating, so just aisle and window seats. I am looking at flying Porter again next year and will be ok with Standard, I think.

We flew standard in April. 1 Carry on each, no checked luggage. Yes they include drinks and snacks, but as all airlines,,beer is not cold, so hard pass for me. Loved the service, but if flying out of Toronto, make sure you check which airport. I made the mistake thinking its Pearson with the jets and I knew we were switching planes in Ottawa. Well they booked us out of Pearson and then land back at the Island. Tough to have car in 2 spots. So double check.
Wife and 2 daughters are flying out this March 2025. No luggage,,I will be driving with it all,,so they walk on, walk off. I am stopping at Hilton Head on way down, golfing and then picking them up at MCO on route, and reverse on way back.

If you know you will be taking a piece of checked luggage get the "flexible" level as it includes one checked bag and seat selection ("standard" plus seat and bag= "flexible") plus the ability to make changes. If you're travelling carryon only you could get "standard" and pay or not for seats.

Loved the new terminal although I do miss some of the eating spots in A/B. I like to support Porter as they have really opened up the Ottawa market with direct flights.

If booking through AM just go onto the Porter site to make sure you know each levels price point to make sure you choose the correct level on the AM site. We booked through AM in the spring and it was easy to go onto Porter's website after the booking was confirmed and add seat selection. I'm flying with them again next week, that one I booked direct with Porter.

I just picked random dates here, only wanted to show you what's up when you use Airmiles to book Porter. If you click on the section that says "use dream miles" a box will open up to show you what you can select and how many miles each level costs

NEXT, go to the Porter site and see what's ATUALLY included with those fare levels.

We've booked the Flexible level for the flight south and went for the Reserve level on the way back because it always sucks to come home so those extra few perks are nice AND it was so much cheaper coming home!
When booking using miles the system will automatically book both directions on the same fare type.

For your situation i would go with Flexible since it includes 1 piece of checked luggage, a carry-on and person bag PLUS seat selection, just need to do that on the Porter site or thru the app once you've booked the flight. We LOVE the service, the planes are new, the free wifi is a bonus, and the new terminal isn't as busy.

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. I found 2 receipts at the No Frills today which netted me 18 miles for waffles. I also found 1 the other day at Food Basics and earned 5 miles for eggs. I actually found 3 receipts today in total and 1 had eggs on it so I thought bonus, but no idea why it was still in the parking lot as it was from June 24th.

This breaks it down very nicely, thanks. Question, can you pay with partial miles? I'm about 300 short (as of right now) to get two flights for the Flexible option. There's an issue right now on the AMs site and it won't let me play with this idea. Thought you might know.

ETA- Can I pay for one flight with AMs and another with a Porter gift card?

Thanks for posting information, I may do hoppers as well.

Note that Disney MAY charge you a bit more than the hopper addon price to upgrade IF airmiles purchased the tickets at a discount price. The added cost would be the discount given to airmiles. Only mentioning it as this has happened in the past. If you purchase and add on the hoppers, please post again!
So canadian resident hoppers are now available on th AM website. I purchased and immediately received an email with the code to link to my disney account.

At the bottom of the page when you go to book is a sliding scale. You must use at least 50% in AM the rest can be AM or Cash.

Not sure about the Porter GC. You might have to use that on the Porter site.

Play golf, go to the parks and all of the above.

I actually earned 29 miles in total. They found eggs and Jamaican patties. I will take those miles.

Has anyone received miles from their Costco purchases last weekend? I haven't received my base ones yet and they are usually pretty quick. Still haven't received Michaels from a few weeks ago either.

For me, a 5 hour drive at 6 P.M. does not sound enjoyable. By the time you get there, get registered, get to bed, get to sleep, you might not feel like doing anything the next day. If you just start driving north you will stop at some point for sleep and then, I would bet a sum of money on this, the next day you will just want to get home and drive all the rest of the way with no break for enjoyment. Heading back to SSR and golf the next morning sounds so much more relaxing for a last day.
Again, that's 'for me'. I tend to overthink things sometimes. What ever you decide will still be a day away, a bit of your holiday, so it will be wonderful.
Let us know what you decide.
