Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Not sure if we need to add the phone # each time we log in or if they just want everyone to enter their # so that their records are up to date. All 3 household account currently use our home phone # (yes I still have one) as their contact #. Will we be able to move forward with one phone # associated with 3 different accounts? As with all things airmiles many questions yet to be answered.

I think they'll be moving to using phone numbers so they can establish 2 step authentication like other companies do. I actually appreciate it even if it's annoying waiting to get into an account while out of the house (got burned by swapping my sim card and then trying to shop online on Black Friday 2023 though) I can't sign into well dot ca, marriot, on occasion A-mazon, my hospital portal for appointments, northern relections and those are the only ones i can remember at the moment, without a text code.

Pretty sure they will be using this to crack down on people having multiple accounts but not sure how it will play out in the long run. No idea how it will work if you don't use a cell phone as your primary number either 🤔

If using household landline, wouldn’t it still be more than one person using the same phone? I hope I can use one cell number for two accounts.

What about that small segment of the population who have AM cards and don't use a cell phone? (thinking of my in-laws). The landline option will have to work for them.

I believe the email did say that phone or email would still be options. I hate multi factor authentication but prefer when it's email over text.

BTW, when I said "multiple accounts" I wasn't referring to people who are managing accounts for family members who ACTUALLY exist! I've read reports of people setting up dummy accounts, can't understand that one, straight up fraud in my mind.

Using cell phone or landline - didn't read closely enough to see the part about calling or texting (knew I'll be using text, it's easier) AND we don't have a landline I prefer using text to email because I have 4 different emails that I use as a sort of filing system to keep parts of my life separate and I can't access all of them on my phone and I'm all about convenience.

Using the same number for multiple accounts makes sense, we use mine for almost everything since hubby's is his company line (and I'm usually the person doing all this loyalty based schtuff)

How was your commute today Jacqueline. Not too delayed I hope.
Background to the rest of the gang - I can usually go at least a year between treatments but all of the extra stress surrounding the global events, family struggles, sense of finality attached to our birthday/40th anniversary trip in November (we already made the decision it will be the last until we see some changes but it has just gotten worse down there), personal health struggles and the financial impacts we're already seeing in hubby's business due to the tariffs (2 clients who are impacted by the steel and aluminum because they manufacturer garage doors can't afford to do any training at the moment) has led to me starting up at the 6 month mark. First of 30 was on Monday but after getting texts from GO Transit about potential impacts and our city transit announcing today would operate on holiday schedules before I headed into Toronto yesterday, I cancelled today's trek! I'm not sure who was more excited about a snow-day, me or the grandkids. NO contest, ME because our county just pivots to online classes during school closures :P
HOWEVER, I only found out Friday at 4 pm that I would be doing the daily treks so I didn't get everything accomplished on the weekend and today has been full of laundry, cleaning and other boring tasks. I have been slowly working on painting a desk for one of our granddaughters, was part of her Christmas gift but luckily for me she doesn't have much concept of time and lacks Object Permanence so she won't care when it gets delivered. Picked up a desk at a 2nd hand store and I'm painting the legs to look like pencil crayons. The top will be yellow and then she can cover it with stickers before I coat it in thick urethane that can be easily cleaned.

SO this is me today, having fun with a snow day, just getting ready to clean the 20+ cm of snow off our car so they can plow the parking lot tomorrow.

That desk is going to look great when it is done. I loved painting things for the kids in primary colours. If you don't want to use urethane (smell) I've often used a Minwax polyacrylic (water based) for finishing projects. Because it doesn't have urethane in it it doesn't yellow the final colour. 3 or 4 coats stands up well to all the abuse. (I did our coffee table this way and it has held up for years). Just a thought.

If I ordered a Universal studios ticket in the morning. Like 5 am. Would I get it by email by the afternoon. Or should I try to redeem my reward miles a day earlier?

The Canadian dollar is doing very well right now against the US dollar. I just checked and it is 1.417 Cnd to purchase a Us dollar, down about .05 in a week. That's amazing and I would never have predicted it. Please, may it continue to do so.
I did change some US$ last week but still have some to change. Will wait till end of next week to see if I can sweak out $5 bucks...lol

Where are you getting this? I just checked and TD online, which gives a better rate, is 1.4526

It’s the bank of Canada rate. Purchasing from a bank will add a percentage as they pay the bank of Canada to have it shipped in and need to make their own profit. If TD is $1.45 right now I would think five days ago. It would’ve been close to $1.50 or so.

Estimated amount in CAD
$1.42
Exchange Rate
$1.4171 CAD = $1.00 USD
