Airlines step up to the plate

Just heard on Fox News that about 20 of the major airlines are going to start working on airlifting up to around 25,000 survivors out of NO area to various Air Force bases. Themselves strapped with a horrendous expenses, many in bankruptcy, they are coming through....the tough get going when the going gets tough.

That's good. I was kind of mad at them when I heard that they stoped flights 12 hours before the huricane hit, when it was still safe to fly, stranding hundreds, if not thousands, of tourists in NO. Maybe this will help make up for that.

That's amazing given the bad shape the carriers are in. I heard that Delta's stock reached "penny stock" status for a while today... but it's since recovered to $1.01!.

I'm not sure it was really all that safe to fly. Wind sheers can cause crashes. DFW and Texarkana come to mind.
