I just read an article on mousesavers and it listed the participating airlines and mine was not on the list! I have not received my tags yet, but the CM did take my information and said I would be getting them...they didn't mention that it was only certain airlines. I know this is a new service so there may not be much info out there, but any help anyone can give me would be great!
My airline is ATA (out of Indianapolis, IN) -I think it is a division of southwest but I'm not sure (I'm looking into that now!) Thanks again! :confused3

The "Participating Airlines" refers to your journey home. Since you're flying ATA, you will carry your luggage with you on the bus (it will be stored underneath) and you will check it and get your boarding pass at the Airport.

Your journey TO Disney will be just like everyone elses... your tagged bags will bypass baggage claim, and onto your resort. Tags are running behind schedule, but should arrive before your departure date.

This question comes up over and over again. The phrase "participating airlines" has caused all sorts on confusion with Disney CMs and with folks on this board.

Disney's Magical Express (ME) is not limited to "participating airlines." You can ride the ME coaches both ways. And when traveling to WDW, you can check your luggage from your home airport directly to your WDW resort hotel. (It gets a little more complicated for international visitors who need to pass through U.S. Customs and Imigration at Orlando International.)

There is no participating airlines list for the overall ME service.

There is only a participating airlines list for Resort Airline Check-in. But you can use Magical Express without using Resort Airline Check-in, and you can use Resort Airline Check-in without using Magical Express.

Here's where the participating airlines become a factor... According to the Disney Meetings website Disney's Magical Express FAQs:

Q: What is Resort Airline Check-in?

A: This service offers remote check-in, allowing you to check your luggage and receive your airline boarding pass at the Resort. At this time, remote check-in service is only available for guests flying domestically on the following airlines: American, Continental, Delta (including Song), and United (including Ted). Additional airlines may be added at a later date.

If you aren't on a Resort Airline Check-in participating airline, your luggage can travel back to the airport in the luggage hold of the ME motorcoach. Once at the airport, you can check your bags and get your boarding pass.

Thanks for all the information! I feel much better now that I understand what "participating airlines" means. We won't be flying home until 7:00pm...can we leave our bags at the hotel and then pick them up when we come back to load the magic express bus? We planned on using at least half of the day at MK since we had such a late flight. Thanks again for all the helpful information! :sunny:

youi can leave your bags with bell services and pick them up from there.
