Hi all,

I'm traveling to WDW on 9/17/11 to 9/24/11. I made my flight reservations with Continental the day that the tickets became available. I went back to check the prices today, and found that the rates had dropped.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible to receive a refund for the difference? If so, how would I go about asking for it?

Thanks so much! :)

Did you book through Orbitz?

This recently happened to me with JetBlue (I got the difference back in the form of a voucher that I can use within a year on JetBlue, it didn't go back on my credit card), so if I don't use it within a year I lose it. Although I plan on using it for my next disney trip in August.

thanks LMCT88!

well, at least there's some hope. i'd be happy with a voucher.

I've never had much luck with continental being very helpful -- actually, besides Jetblue most airlines have been unhelpful (I don't fly southwest but I've heard they'll give credit back without a change fee) :confused3 I think continental's change fee is $150 for each ticket, I wouldn't expect to get a refund without paying that -- and the difference would have to be more than $150 to be worth it, obviously. Airline tickets are kind of a once you buy, you buy deal.

OP This is the correct answer. If you go to the transportation board this question has been asked several times. The only airline that offer refunds or credits if price drops are JetBlue and Southwest. The rest won't refund the money without paying the change fee per ticket so it would have to be a huge price drop.

Best advice...buy at a price you are happy with and DON'T look at the prices again!

Alaska Air does too!

But I'm sure that Continental charges a change fee.

Just so you know, you got a credit - not a voucher. The difference? A credit is transferable; if you can't use it, you can transfer its value to someone else's True Blue account so the value doesn't disappear, but it does still expire a year from the original purchase date. You don't have to fly by then, you just have to 'spend' it.

A voucher can be used by only the passenger to whom it was issued. Vouchers are generally given for specific issues; my whole flight (probably all cross-country westbound flights that day) a couple of years ago got vouchers because we had to stop in Denver to refuel.

Alaska does not have a change fee if the cost goes down. Part of their Low Price Guarantee. Look at the info on the right of that page.

1Purchase an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flight.
2Find the same flight and itinerary for less on alaskaair.com any time before your departure.
3Use our automated process to claim a Guaranteed Airfare credit.
We'll give you the difference in price as a refund or credit that can be used toward your next Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flight purchase.

They've been tweaking their program; about 1.5 years ago, when the price went down by $5, I called them, and their program THEN caused them to give me a $25 credit. At that time they did the closest $25 to the amount the fare had decreased. So for $5 on 3 tickets, we got a total of $75 in credit. It was awesome.

They've changed it now, but it also seems easier; doesn't seem that you have to call anymore. Nothing in the T&C about there being a fee, and there wasn't when I used the previous form of their guarantee.

:thumbsup2 That is awesome! I cant believe that I have never realized that before. We always fly Alaska..and often I scour the flights to get the best price and wait hoping to get the best deal. Looks like I can just get the flight I want and then if the price goes down I know I will still be ok.

Thanks so much!!!
