I read on Mousesaver that there is a substantial discount for airline employees at WDW resorts. Anyone know if that is true, and if so, what's the deal? Just got hired by one and want to know. You can bet where my first free trip will be.

I would think your human resource department would have the real "skinny" on this. Congrats on your new job.

I believe that it is about 50% off rack rates. Call and ask for airline employee rates! Be prepared, you will have to show your airline employee ID at check-in.

It is 50% off for sure! A friend of ours just booked this for her trip next month. Pop Century was only $49.50 a night plus tax.

I have a niece and a friend who work for Alaska Airlines, I'll be sure and mention this to them! I was just talking with my friend about it yesterday, in fact, letting her know that I'll help her plan her trip back to WDW. She was there in November, but it sounded like they only went to the Magic Kingdom, I told her there is a whole 'nother world out there! That is a great price on the pop century, since they have 4 kids, they could get 2 connecting rooms! Thanks again! Kelly:wave: :Pinkbounc

Congrats on your new job! yes, Disney does offer 50% off rack rates. You need to call and find out if the discount code is available during the time you want to stay, though. Last October we stayed (DVC points) and needed one more night so we were going to pay in cash. 3 months before our vacation a room was available with the discount, but I didn't make the reservation then. I waited until we arrived in WDW to call and reserve it (about 3 days before we needed the room), and they said the discount was no longer available. So make sure you call Disney to reserve with the discount, and make sure you bring your ID badge. Good luck! It's good to have perks in some places because you're an airline employee. My husband is employed by the airlines and doesn't get paid much for all the work he does, so it's nice to have the discount help us out.

 Hi! Yes airline employees do get great discounts. WDW offers 50% room rates (of course based on availablity) with proof of good standing with the airline. You have to call WDW and check the rates and then fax them a letter before you can even pay your deposit. They changed their policy on this in October. You used to only have to present your airline ID and now you have to have a letter faxed. WDW Reservations will give you all the detailswhen you call to reserve a room. Beware when you send the fax, they lost my 1st fax for my trip next month and I had to refax it and the same thing happened to a co-worker. Always call and make sure they receive it. The discounts are well worth the extra trouble. :teeth: By the way, car rental agencies also offer discounts but I haven't always found them to be so great so check all discounts available on those before you reserve a car.

Thanks for all the responses. This is good to know. We have DVC but have used up all our points for the next year on a cruise. As someone mentioned, they don't pay great, so it will be a real nice perk. Next after this, Toyko Disneyland!

Welcome to the world of the Airline Employee...
Seeing that your in Chicago, my guess is that your with AA, Eagle or United

I have been with AA since 1990. Lots of discounts out there. If you work for AA and you book trips at AAvacations.com you can save 10% of the total price, plus you get AAdvantage Miles on top of that. I have done this twice in the past year.
I have never booked just the room at Disney, but our trip coming up in December, I need to book a room. So I might be doing that.

Thanks for the idea...

PS....If you go to the California, AA and Eagle employees can get Disneyland 1 day tickets for 42.00 adult, 39.00 for children. 2 Day tickets are 48.00 adult, 37.00 for children. PM me if your an AA/Eagle employee and Ill get you the contact in LAX.

I

Or, she could be SWA??

Congrats on your new job!!! I was a FA for SWA for eight years!!! I don't miss it...but, I do miss the benefits!!

Check with interline travel agencies (open skies is REALLY good). Sometimes, they can get discounts for Disney even when Disney is not offering them directly. I don't remember their number, but your benefits dept would have it.

Have fun,
Beca

Oh thats right...I usually only think of Major Airports.
I forgot Midway airport. I forget there are carriers there..
SWA wouldnt be all that bad to work for. They make money..
Be nice if mine would, although things are improving...
