I've been planning this trip since June and I got my tickets to but fro-- ugh. I can't believe how expensive the tickets are back from MCO. Even Christmas it's cheaper. I'm on a 2 hour flight home or less and for 4 people I'm looking at $800 which I think before I paid $400. It's driving me nutty like a peanut factory worker!

Very unlikely the price will drop for travel during Thanksgiving week, especially for the Wednesday before and the Sunday after, which are the most expensive travel days of that holiday.

I booked our flights for Thanksgiving back in May when the Southwest flights opened up. I booked most of our tickets using points, but the airfare had come down quite a bit since I booked. The number of points per person when I first booked were over 32,000 and are now down to 25977, that has put back over 6000 points per person into my account. For the tickets that I paid in cash they started at $536 per person roundtrip and went down to $451. This is going to MCO from Philly the Saturday before Thanksgiving and returning to Philly the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I got the flight times I wanted so I am happy. I have just checked periodically and when the cost goes down I changed the flights booked with points first because all those points go back to my account. The cash tickets get the credit but are in each person's name so not as much of an advantage if my grand children do not go on any trips with me by next May.

Last week a snagged a $98 each way on SWA for Thanksgiving. and I have companion pass so DH fly's for free.
Frontier had a Thanksgiving sale yesterday.

What day are you looking for? Sunday after Thanksgiving.. Unlikely to see a big drop. The reason Christmas is "cheaper" is that it's not the same 'concentrated' everyone fly on the same day deal.

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies! I am looking for maybe Saturday Nov 28. I'm not deadset, I could extend our stay but I'd like head out then. From MCO to PHL. I'm not leaving at 6:55am either for $199. :(

I'm nervous once November hits they will rocket. I have some points 36,000 but I was hoping to save some. I don't know. I think I might be screwed...

Sorry you are in this situation. This is why I always buy both ways at the same time when I find a fare I am satisifed with and then get adjustments if the fare goes down. I would hate to not have the money for the return fare and then lose the money on the flight down because I could no longer afford to go.

I would buy now and not risk to continuing to increase.

I think flights seem to be up in price in general. I went to Disney in May 2014 and I am going again in beginning of December. We are paying about $100 more pp roundtrip this time from PIT to MCO.
