Howdy! I've been watching the rates for our WDW vacation 3/24-3/31. Right now, they are horribly high from Tulsa or XNA...like $350+ pp) When I look at the 90 day from today tracker, rates are much lower, around $200. I just checked Allegiant's website for flights from Springfield to Sanford, and while it doesn't go all the way to March yet, I see February dates available for $99 each way. So, here's my question...do I jump on the allegiant tickets as soon as my dates are released? Or hang back til closer to our trip and see what kind of deals other airlines might be having? I wasn't sure if there will be great prices since that's Spring Break time...

Any advice, insight, thoughts?

Thanks in advance! :disrocks:

And welcome to the Dis!!!! You will find so much information here that you will be amazed!!! I am in Muskogee, so we fly out of Tulsa. Actually we usually drive!! You have to keep your eyes open, but you can get a good deal to MCO from Tulsa. Sep. 2005 we got a RT rate of $185.00 pp. That is about a cheap as it gets from Tulsa! I am happy for the people in the East that get all the specials for $39.00 each way! But I am bummed that we NEVER get that good a rate! I wish we had jetblue or something like it. The closest we have is SWA, and even their specials are not as cheap for us. I would hold off booking anything yet, you may find a better deal later. I would sign up for the travelocity farewatcher. They will send you an e-mail if the price changes--for better or worse!!! But if you see a good deal, I would jump on it..many times they sell out quickly. And I would not book thru travelocity, just use them to see what the rates are, then go to the airlines website and book..... you will save the booking fee. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the advice. I am signed up for fare watches on Travelocity and Orbitz...so we'll see what turns up. I emailed Allegiant today and they should be releasing my dates in the next week or so. See, that's what's going to be hard--whether or not to scoop up their tickets or wait and see if something cheaper turns up at TUL or XNA. But then, if I wait and nothing better is available and then I miss out on the cheap Allegiant tix... *sigh* The drama!!! LOL

Anyone else have any thoughts or history with these airports?

Hello! We live in Missouri and we flew out of Springfield last Jan. with Allegiant. We only paid $59 ea way per person. They were pretty new to offering the Springfield/Sanford flight so that is probably why it was so cheap. If I were you I would totally grab the $99 flight. Oh yeah, we had a great flight with them. They were very friendly and the plane was comfy. Springfield airport is also very easy to fly from/into. Good luck!!

Im from OK and I find it a bit cheaper to fly out of OKC than Tulsa. Way cheaper, but not worth it imo to fly out of dallas. Check AA, I beleive they are the only ones with a hub here in OK. There is a new airline (not new but new to have not stop flights from okc) but I cant remember who it is, just saw the commercial. I paid 315 pp after taxes for around Christmas time, which isnt fabulous, but worth it for the time slots I wanted. Just keep checking the websites and make sure you clear your cookies every time.

You're right, Dallas is cheaper...I don't think I'm up for the 5+ hour drive though! :drive:

Anyone else fly out of TUL or XNA or Springfield, MO around Spring Break time? If so, would you share what your tickets cost and how early you bought them?

Thanks so much!!

I have flown several trips from Tulsa to MCO on Delta, but never during Spring Break. My tickets have been between $200 to $220, but this was during the fall and early summer.

Allegiant finally released the March dates. But they aren't at $99. They're $149 each way. *sigh* Plus, it appears the flight time to Orlando is different than when I first looked at them, now it's in the afternoon, not arriving til 5:30 ish. Of course, since my original post, the Tulsa flight has gone up to 390 and XNA is 505--Ouch! I checked seats on those flights and there are very few booked, so I guess for now I will just sit back and hope they come down a bit. Sound like a plan?

How funny! I was just getting ready to ask what good rates are from OKC (and I guess Tulsa would work too) to MCO. I can't believe that fellow Okies are on here at the same time! I am flying out on Memorial Day. What's a good rate for me to book at?

We returned last week from our 39th trip "home". We are from OKC and have only driven 3 times, so we have plenty of frequent flyer miles :rotfl2:. I have never paid more than $257 RT. I check the prices several times every day using the usual internet sights, I have found the prices vary from morning to night, so when they go in the 250's I buy, I don't wait for better because the way my luck runs, it usually just gets worse. We are currently watching the prices for April. princess: pirate:

Another okie looking for airfares to wdw, for us the week before memorial day. Which internet sites do you use to check fares? Thanks!

I am another Okie looking for flights for Spring Break. I know that when Southwest opens up their flight schedule is when the other airlines start lowering their rates. We have flown out of Springfield/Allegiant before and have been very happy with that airline. Of course there is not ME out of Sanford airport so you will have to arrange transportation. We have also flown out of XNA in Fayetteville for about $350. But we have never gone too much cheaper than that. I hope SW has good rates when they come out.

You have a big group going! Maybe we'll all be on the same flight...will your middle schoolers entertain my kids? LOL

Thanks for the insight on tickets. I'll keep watching for Southwest. I checked Allegiant today again and the price has gone up already. *yikes* XNA is right up the road from us, so if there would be some wonderful sale there, I would be pleased as punch. But I have no problem driving to Tulsa or Springfield. Heck...if I had to buy the tickets today, I'd save over $400 total by driving to Kansas City...not really into the 4 hour drive, but for $400 it'd be worth it! Maybe something else I need to be considering is how much extra I'm willing to pay to NOT have to drive. LOL

I'll let you know if I see the SW release! :chat:

Hi,

I live in NW Arkansas about 7 miles from XNA and I've never gotten a deal out of there to anywhere. They are really expensive, mainly because there aren't alot of flights, they are on small planes, so there isn't alot of capacity and there are alot of business people willing to pay whatever it costs to fly into and out of XNA to visit the Wal-mart home office. When I am booking a trip to MCO, I've found that American is usually the cheapest. Delta lately has been outrageous. Southwest flies out of Tulsa and that might be cheaper. I usually just have to bite the bullet and pay whatever the ticket costs if I want the convenience of flying in and out of XNA.
