I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway!!! It seems my dh may be going to a big sales meeting in WDW over Feb vacation. What idiot booked that time we would love to know. Anyway....the whole family can go, but dd and I would have to book our own airfare. Since we wouldn't have to pay for a room (staying at YC/BC) somewhat higher fares wouldn't be awful. But, is there anything I can do, at this late date, to find something a bit cheaper than $500 pp? I can fly out of Logan, TFGreen, or even Manchester if need be. I even thought about the train from Providence but sitting up for 24 hrs is kind of daunting. Ay thoughts for those of you who are experienced Feb vacation travelers?? I have always said I would never fly at this time, but this could be too nice a stay to pass up because of high airfares.

Be flexible with regard to the time-of-day you travel.

For example, I just priced out a Boston-to-Orlando trip for mid-February, and got a price of $147 per person roundtrip, through sidestep.com. These itineraries have you leave Boston in the evening, and return from Orlando in the morning, and as you can see, save you $350 per person!

I was checking SW the other day for the 2 days before and after the start of February Vacation, and all of the less expensive fares were gone. In fact, most of the higher priced were gone as well.

Same problem with Jet Blue and Song.

My best advice would be to keep checking on travel sites such as Expedia or Travelocity and don't be afraid to fly at "inconvenient" times.

A lot depends, too, on when in February you are going. We paid about $130 r/t this past February, but it was before President's Day. After that, fares seem to go up and stay up until after Easter. Downloading DING would be a great idea as well as signing up for e-mail updates from all the airlines you are considering. And I agree that Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia,Sidestep, etc. would be good places to check out on a regular basis.

I just went to AirTran, and booked Friday the 17th, leaving at 11am with one stop, returning Friday the 24th, leaving at 10:15 with one stop, for $318.80 including all taxes and fees.

Not bad for the Friday to Friday of vacation week?

Check out www.airtran.com and see what else you can see.

They have a 'flexible dates' option when you're looking for flights, where you put in your desired dates, and can also see up to 2 days prior, and 2 days after.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Use this link to try some different search engines to find airfare:

If you see something you like, then go to that airlines website and check it out through them directly (we usually get better fares by booking directly with NWA, but the search engines help us spot a price range).
