Airbnb - Cat Included?

As much as I love cats and miss having one, I would want to know if they had a cat in the house because I'm allergic to them! I wouldn't necessarily want to look after a stranger's kitty either, I don't know their temperament or what they like or dislike.

That seems really unfair to the cats, if nothing else. I would not trust strangers to take good care of my kitty. Of course, I don't think I'd trust them with my house, either, so I may not be cut out for AirBnB rentals.

I think the whole idea of renting out a primary residence is just a little weird and I wouldn't be interested. As to the cat sitting aspect of it, I'm allergic to pet hair and just generally not a fan of inside animals, our cat and dog are outside animals. So pet sitting someone else's cat seems like something I should be getting paid for not the other way around.

I would never do it... I mean there are people I would let stay in my apartment with my cats if I was gone... like my neice that cares for them when I'm on vacation, but I know those people and I know they would never hurt my kitties.

Honestly the idea of strangers in my home creeps me out though so I would never do AirBnB anyway.

I love cats and the idea of taking care of them on vacation if I got to enjoy their company doesn't bother me at all (my cats is one of the only things I miss about being home while on vacation). I mean If I had kids I would still have to take care of them on vacation and I generally don't hear people say "I'm on vacation I don't want to deal with my kid"

... actually I don't hear people say that but I have definitely seen some that have that attitude so maybe alot of people wouldn't want to care for a pet on vacation.

We've used airbnb quite a few times now so I turned to them for an upcoming trip. I have found two places in a row that rent out their entire place and leave their cat there. Am I the only one who wouldn't leave my cat in my home with total strangers? One reviewer noted that the cat loved to jump on the bed, "but after a few gentle nudges, he got the hint and didn't jump up anymore." What if the person renting isn't as gentle as the last person? Would you ever consider leaving your pet with different strangers on a regular basis? I just couldn't do it. I'm afraid to go back and continue looking. I might come across one where kids are included!

Oh my Gosh I saw this thread title and started laughing so hard:rotfl:I can't believe thats an actual thing?!?! Like unless we're talking about a random stray that you sometimes put a bowl out for, no WAY would I leave a pet behind for a stranger to take care of!! What?! Lol thats just the most absurd thing, I can just imagine you renting the house and finding kids in the closet they left behind with Post-its on them of their "Care" instructions! Peeps be crazy:sad2:
