Just checked in on-line 24 hours prior to flight and printed our boarding pass. It looked like only a handful of people checked-in prior to us. I hope I get the same luck on our way home.

I flew with them last month and had the same experience both ways. If you don't have a printer available for the return, you can just select seats and check-in. They will print the boarding passes either at curbside check or at the counter (or possibly a kiosk).

Sun Country was the same way. The only thing was that I was only offered about half of the plane at check in. I was told by a SC rep that they hold half of the plane for check ins at the airport.

When you selected your seats on Air Tran, did you get to pick from the entire plane or only sections?

On Air Tran, I had the entire plane (except business class of course). I think they did block the first row of coach (bulkhead). I picked row 14 which I thought was the third row of coach (11 was the first on the chart) but row 10 was actually the first row. I'm not sure if exit rows were available.

Sun Country was weird. They blocked out the first 7 rows (no business or first class) and rows 17-25 in the middle.

We could choose from rows 8-16 and row 26 to the back of the plane. We were able to grab row 8.

I had pretty much the whole plane to pick from except business class. We are a family of four and a few of the seats were already taken. I logged on very close to the 24 hour period. I'm not sure if some people actually pay the higher price to be able to choose thier seats at the time of purchase. Not sure either if one is using a frequent flyer ticket if that person is allowed to shoose seats at time of booking the flight.

We'll be picking our seats next Friday at 7:00 AM for our Saturday morning flight. It's our first time flying with them. Thanks for the info.

We actually forgot until the last minute to do this. Our flight was oversold, so we got business class seats for no extra charge. The computer pulled up business class. I chose our seats. When we showed up at the airport we did indeed get business class for no extra charge. It was a great way to start our trip.
