Any ideas what the problem could be? The filter is clean - the unit is only 1 and 1/2 years old - and it's a Whirlpool..

I'd hate to have to buy another one, but my DH MUST have a/c at all times during the warmer months or he can't breathe even with the oxygen..:(

Must be out of freon, either that or just bit the dust.

After only a year and a half?? I would expect to get a bit more use out of it than that! :(

It could've came with a leak, even brand new, and it took this long to leak it all out.

It used to be that they'd just fill them back up with freon, you'd pay the man, and he'd be on his way and you'd have cool air again.

With the newer EPA regulations they're supposed to find and repair the leak, which can cost as much as it would be to buy a new window unit!

Maybe a blocked condensate tube, or as said, dirty air fins. How long is the warranty?

The warranty was only for 12 months.. I have cleaned everything I can find to clean.. Guess I'll have my son-in-law ask his buddy that works with heating and cooling what he thinks the problem might be..

Be forewarned though - if I have to buy a new unit, you will hear me screaming at the top of my lungs from upstate New York!!

Have you taken off the back and hosed it out? When ours wasn't cooling, DH took off the back and washed the air finns out and we were back in business.

Check to see if it is frozen over. The condensers will be frost-covered. Turn it off, let it warm up for a few hours, then turn it back on and it should be fine. It can happen occasionally when the humidity is high.
