Air conditioning question about AKV at Jambo and OKW

Stayed at a value studio in Feb at Jambo and it was warm during the day. We had the air conditioning on and it was not cool enough. We had maintenance up twice and it seemed ok until later and it was warm again. One guy told us it cannot be set below 67.7. We have stayed there two other times and once it was ok and the other time it was hot, we called and someone came and it was fine.

We are suppose to stay in a 2 bedroom standard view in June and I am worried. I like my room cool. I was going to try to switch to OKW which we have always loved, but I read on a thread that people are complaining about the air conditioning at OKW since the refurbishment.

Any help would be appreciated.

We've stayed at least three times in a refurbished unit at OKW. Our most recent visit was the only time that we had trouble controlling the unit. That was last Christmas when it was unseasonable cold at WDW. As long as we were in the room and moving around, we had two of our older children on this trip with us, it seemed fine. However at night we found we were either too warm or too cold if we left the settings as they were during the day. We should have asked, but we didn't, if the thermostats were motion sensitive, if they were having issues with the unseasonable cold temperatures outside, or if we just had a contrary unit. The previous spring and Christmas we stayed in refurbs without any issues.

I believe most of the thermostats are now motion sensitive and there are numerous posts on the Disboards about methods to override the motion sensor with varying degrees of success. The methods vary from leaving a balloon in the room with the fan on to programming the thermostat to run in manual mode. I've even read where some of the maintenance folks have done overrides for guests. Hopefully you can find a couple posts with instructions and one will work for you.

We had an AC issue at AKV - Kidani right after they opened the first phase and it turned out to be a clogged air filter. It apparently hadn't been changed once the construction was finished and was full of drywall-type dust. They changed it and within an hour the temperature in the room had dropped a good 10 degrees. If the room you get was just refurbished and you have AC issues I would have them check the filter too, you never know.
