A question for all you tent campers out there - what's the best air conditioner to buy for your tent so you can take a mid day nap in the middle of the summer in your tent? Is there a way to use a window unit air conditioner without having to cut a hole in your tent?

What about one of the portable ac units

This comes up every once and awhile. There is a company that sells an AC boot for your tent but you have to cut a hole in it to make it work.

You could come up with something that blows the air into the tent through a screen window, but it would depend on how your windows are situated. You kind of still have to "seal around" the window. Its best if it can take the warm humid air inside, chill it and remove the humidity. Other wise you can have cool humid air.

As for the in room AC units you still have to vent it to the outside with a flexible duct and if you don't have a big tent, it can get in the way.

I have seen self contained ones that use two flexible ducts and the units stays outside but those are a little expensive.

We use a portable unit by commercial cool and it works great. We just run the tubing out the small opening out of the back of our Coleman tent and zip it up around it. We've used it during multiple seasons (including August) and it was glorious. It is both a heater and air conditioner and let me tell you, both features came in handy last November :)

I have see some tents that have a little zip up section to put a portable a/c in so you don't have to cut anything
