Air Canada service

I flew back from Orlando on Air Canada on Saturday. I'd have to say it was perhaps the worst service I've had on a flight. We were on the plane for over four hours, two of them sitting on the runway in Orlando. The plane down was late, so they put us on while luggage was being stowed. The plane was far less than clean. Then there was a mechanical problem, then a weather delay. Not their fault.

There was no food service, minimal drink service, and after showing countless ads on the screen, they started a movie half-way through the flight, then had to cut it off before it finished.

On the way down the previous Saturday, the movie kept cutting out and being replaced by something else, then re-starting. The safety display would fast forward and reverse.

Also, in Toronto there were only four check-in spots for all the flights. It took us over an hour. When we approached the girl, she told the passing manager to relieve her because she was going to faint. She just couldn't handle the stress and the pace. She told us we were her last check-in. There was no security from her. She even wanted us to carry-on our large suitcases because she didn't want to check them.

Maybe the government should just put the debt-ridden airline out of its misery and start from scratch. It made me long for Canada 3000. Options are now severely limited.

I agree with your comments. I just got back from Hawaii yesterday, and had a very similar experience from Edmonton. The flight that we left on from here to Vancouver arrived an hour late from Winnipeg. In Vancouver we had to collect our luggage which took at least 1/2 an hour to get. The US Customs was backed up due to the closure of the Seattle-Tacoma airport. The flight from Vancouver to Maui, had to wait for us and about 12 other people. Boy did my family have fun. We were two families with 6 kids aged 4-10 running through the terminal.

On the return flight it took us an hour to check in. The flight was overbooked so they were looking for people to bump. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 11:15pm. We did not start boarding people until that time. Once everyone got on, they realized that there were empty seats, so the people who were bumped were able to get on. We had a communications problem with the Vancouver airport, and ended up sitting on the runway until 12:38am. Once we reached Vancouver again it was a race through the airport to catch our connecting flight to Edmonton. With the delays in security again, any time that we originally had between flights disappeared. Each family lost one piece of luggage during our connection between Vancouver and Edmonton, along with about 12 other people. One guy had all four pieces of his luggage go missing.

Not that I expect much for food, but the breakfast we had, I would not have ever served to my dog. Thank goodness we had snacks for the kids.

If this is what my tax dollars is paying for, I want a refund....
