Does anyone know about this instant message thing?? Are their actual "computers" that you chat with and not people?? My dd's always say they are talking to a "computer".....but how do I know????

The lastest is "Cupid"....anyone know of a list of these "so-called" computer names???

Thanks
Lisa

At the top of my AIM buddy list are AIM Bots, which are computers. I don't know all of them. Maybe you could google it.

I believe they're called AIM bots. They come out with new ones every so often. They only ones I can think of off the top of my head is ShoppingBuddy SmarterChild, but if you go on the AIM website I bet you could find more information. They are just computers, they have automotic responses based on certain words that you type to them; thats why you can "converse" with them.

I hate AIM bots, they clutter up the place.

BTW, I found a new IM client yesterday, that seems to be a lot less resource intensive than AIM or Trillian. It's Miranda IM. It supports AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and IRC. Great stuff.
