Ahoy! Sailing the Wonder 2/8/09

We will be at WDW starting on Feb 1st for a week before the cruise...

I am at the 4 day countdown!!!

You know your trip is close when you start wearing all your ugly clothes and uncomfortable underwear because you don't want to have to wash :laundy: anything else before packing!!!! :rotfl2:

Sophie can't wait to be buried in the sand so we found an alternative today.

Its too bad the spa services are so pricey - all the ladies could have gotten together for a mani/pedi mini party - by the looks of this board - we would have a blast and they would probably run us off! Thanks for the extra "tips" I'm always up for good inside info! Sorry for all the snow you guys are getting - we are just cold here - no snow. DS4 said "mom, why is it so cold and not snowing?" It just doesn't seem fair. My picture today is one I took at school last week when we got our snow - How cool is it to see a Palmetto Tree covered in snow!?

I feel very sad I did not get in on the pedi-talk. I tried to log on several times over the past 2 days, but got distracted by too many things. It was great to have 2 pages to catch up on though. The pedi talk was much nicer than the snow talk (and yes, most of that was from me. we are getting more tonight:scared: ) But I will add one more tip. If you are not looking for a glamourous look, cut your nails VERY SHORT before going to the salon. They seem to just snip a little and file. They last much longer if they are short and your feet look daintier. I have gone well over a month! Then yes, bring your own polish so you can touch up when they start growing out.

Thanks for the tip on getting "mickey's" painted on the nails:worship: . My DD said she wanted palm trees. They are a little grown up for her, but understood she was going for a "vacation" look. She will be so happy to hear they can do Mickey's. I never thought of it. Just 3 little circles.

One other pre-vacation pampering tip. Instead of getting braids on board if any of you were thinking of it, I take DD to a hair salon. We have a "snip its" in our area. It only cost us $20-25 for a hair wrap. The last time she got one in Disney, it cost $45-50. I do not even know if they do "wraps" maybe just braids which would be a lot more I would think. But she doesn't care.

I have another question. Does anyone know if they accept disney $$ on the ship :confused3 . We give it to our kids every christmas to spend in disney. It helps to curb the souvenier spending. Its amazing how they think twice about wanting something when they have to use their own $$.

Of course I am sad, they are phasing out the dollars and moving on to the "gift cards". Its just not the same. I should stock up on all I can now for future trips. :wave2:

The ship is cashless except for tips for room service. I think you can apply the disney dollars to your stateroom account but I don't know for sure.

Mickey toes, I missed that idea, good one Tracey!
Maybe we could get a group rate on mani/pedis!
We're getting more snow here in NY tonight too :sad2:
I've had enough....

So to add to all my precruise stress, I decided to fire my realtor today and relist my house with someone else. ARGH!!!! I so didn't need this right now. :)

Jill

Jill that sucks, now is not the time to be "learning" a new realtor.

Tracey love the idea of a mickey head on the pedi,::yes:: .

We are in for a double dose of snow tomorrow, 4 inches in the morning and another 2 in the late afternoon, drive-time joy:drive:.

It's snowing again here too. I am soooo tired of looking at it. After Christmas it isn't fun anymore, it's annoying. I hope the weather behaves itself when we fly out. I am loving the idea of a group assault on the salon! princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess:
I also love the Mickey head pedi!!
We will be at WDW for 3 days prior to setting sail, staying at POR.:hyper:
We leave in 7 days!:cool1:
Hang in ther Jill! Vacation is coming::yes::
Be safe up there PJ!

We could not get our pedi today. :sad2: The salon was closed today and tomorrow because it MIGHT ice a little!!!! Don't they know I'm getting ready for a cruise?!?!? I did get my eyebrows threaded today. It was done by a different lady this time and boy did it hurt!! I was sure I would gush blood... My eyes were watering from the pain. It was hard to remember to breathe. :faint:

Tracey, great point, an eyebrow do over you would be a good extra service to get done. Sorry it hurt!

Pj

Jill-thanks for the info on the disney dollars. You are right, if they don't take cash, they won't take that. Applying to it to the stateroom is a great idea. When we get our bill, the kids can count what they owe, give us the money and we will save it for next year. Even though we won't actually get to use it, the concept of them paying is still there.

Tracey, what is eyebrow threading? Is that another term for waxing or is there another procedure our there I don't know about?

Kids home from school today due to snow. I am going to put them to work and get a lot of cleaning done. Its great when you have a DISNEY CRUISE to hold over their heads.:rotfl2: 10 days today!!! Its going to go by VERY fast now.

I Love the thought of the spa day on the ship!!!
Will any salon do mickey pedi's? DD will love that.

We are on our THIRD day off from school today. Doesn't look like we'll be going again tomorrow. Now normally, I would be soaking in the time to hunkered down with all my family. BUT we decided to do that this past weekend, to get something done around the house before the trip. So we have been home since Friday at 4. And the CRAZY part about that is, I was outside at 4 cleaning my car because it was almost 60 degrees out. Now we have about 5 inches of snow topped with about 2 inches of ice, and expected to get 5 more inches of snow. I'm SOOOOOO READY for the Bahamas!!!

FINKELLY- We did just what you were saying last time with the disney $$. Some cast members let the kids pay with their dollars and just handed it back to us without them seeing. They understood that at 5 and 3 they were excited to use their money. Now that they are a little older at 6 and 8 I think I can explain it to them.
I am sad to hear they are phasing out disney dollars. I LOVE them and think they are just so neat. My kids got $20 each from us at Christmas and my dad gave them a total of $100.

YOUCH Tracey! I am hurting way up here just thinking about it! I always wondered if the threading hurt more than "wax on-wax off"
Hey Kelly, that's a great idea having the :rockband: clean up! Way to use a snow day!
I must say we are going to be one gorgeous bunch when we hit the high seas! From highlighted heads to Mickey toes!princess:
I am way too busy getting ready for vacaion to go to work! I wish my job could undersand that! I have been tempted to put "rememebr to go to work" on my list. Of course, I have also been tempted to put "remember to breathe"
:hyper: Well, no work= no vacation.

7 days til we :drive: to Florida. with 3 1/2 feet of snow out my window, 7 days seems like forever.......

We are snowed in as well today:sad: Bad part is I still have to work thanks to that great work from home program my company has. Even worse is that DH is working at the firehouse and that leaves the snow removal to me, UGH. I'll just tuck that in between conference calls:rotfl2:
Can you tell I need this vacation!
I agree with Annette on the threading vs waxing, just get it over with quick is my perspective. We will indeed be a well groomed bunch on the 8'th! Can't wait to meet you all.:)

We just got an inch or so of snow this Am but south of us got hit hard. I hope it all melts away before next friday as I want to drive away form the snow not into worse conditions.

found this on a thread about pirate costumes...

I am just off the 1/18 Wonder and they werent giving out the pirate bandanas.....they said they had stopped giving them out the week before :( I was a little unhappy about it simply because I did not get to the store to buy anything figuring I would get that bandana.....

Hope it was just that week - maybe they ran out?

PJ

It finally warmed up to a balmy 34 here. It seemed like a heat wave when I took my dog out this morning. I am sooo ready for vacation!

Just thought of another handy packing tip. If you have a lot of things that need an outlet, bring a power strip. I have a lof of stuff that needs to be charged and it really helps. (*Note to self--throw my power strip in the suitcase!)

Also, bring an extra bag. You will buy more stuff and your luggage will be full! :)

Ok, another thought. You can store you luggage under your bed so you have more room. Just lift up the bed and it will slide right in.

Ok, back to paying attention to class.
