Ahoy! Sailing the Wonder 2/8/09

Hi there dsjmeadors...just saw you're from Northern KY....I graduated from Eastern Kentucky down in Richmond and one of my best friends from college lived in the Covington area. Are you near there? You flying out of Cincinnati airport?

Hi Mike,

I'm about 10 mins from Covington and roughly 2 hours from Eastern. Unfortunately we are not flying out of Cinci since we will be driving down! :(
I do however hear those planes about to land on my house about a million times a day!

Thanks for all the welcomes :flower3: This is exactly why we are such big Disney Fans:thumbsup2

All the pictures are beautiful. I want to go now!

Thanks for the clothes tip. I would hate to pack all this fancy stuff and see everyone pretty casual. Big help!

Regarding ship tour: Since I'm first timer I havn't gone, but one of my friends did and she loved it. Her son was honorary Captain. Magical Moment I presume. Do they still do those?

Will try pics this weekend. I promise.:wave2:

We are driving down too. Hoping for no ICE between here and there! We live outside Evansville, IN. This am it was 0 outside but warming soon. I feel for those north of us!! We used to live in Northern IL for years. Loved the town and the snow...not so much the cold though.

Was just in Covington/Cinci for the Cheetah Girl/Clique Girlz concert in Nov. Love the area!

Annette, got your pm...can't reply yet....couple posts shy! :rotfl2: I will soon.

I really respect everyone driving a long distance....ugghhh, I couldn't do it. What does everyone plan to do at Castaway Cay? DW (ljm23), DS (10) and I have gone on the past two cruises with DW's sister and her DH and DD. This time we're alone as they went on the New Year's eve Cruise as a surprise xmas gift. Anyhow....the girls used to hang out with the kids at the beach while my brother in law and I made sure things were ship shape at the Heads Up Bar. :lmao: We shuttled drinks back and forth to the girls as well :thumbsup2 . This time I would love to go parasailing and DW wants to go biking. DW has an extremely stressful job and says to relax on the beach in the Caribbean is her absolute favorite. Love to see her happy! :)

Castaway Cay, for me is, a chair by the water's edge, sticking my toes in the water, and having a good book to read.

The stingrays are a cool excursion, just about an hour in length and then you are back to the beach. The guy who does the sandcastles is sometimes over by there and the kids can help out.

Wow! Lots of people driving down. We're driving from Louisville. It sounds terrible, but since they canceled the direct flights we used to have, it's really not that much more hassle to drive...and a lot cheaper.

Castaway...hoping for warm sand, warm water....snorkeling. Guess they won't be doing steak and lobster on Serenity Bay since we don't have a lobster dinner on the short cruises. On the 7 day if they have lobsters left, they cook them on Serenity Bay! They also grill steaks there. The rest of the food is the same as at Cookies.

PJ your boys are just adorable! How old are they?

they are mine - thanks! William just turned 8 and Reavis (pronounced Rev-is) is 4 1/2 ( the 1/2 is VERY important) My team teacher (also a DISboards and Disney addict) and I watched Pirates I and II today at school on the SMARTBoard during a teacher workday and it definatley got me in the mood for our sailing!
Here's another picture of the boys - can't find many of me - I'm always behind the camera!:confused3

Hi everyone,

we are getting more excited by the hour...
We are all packed and ready to go and see some sun:beach: since it's raining here:sad2: again!

Since we'll be leaving tomorrow morning, I just wanted to wish you all a safe trip, :drive: safely and we'll meet you at the Goofy pool at 3pm or somewhere else!

Can't wait!!!

Audrey

With alot of us driving down from the north. Are you all driving straight thru. We are we did it for our Nov/ Dec trip and it wasn't bad at all. I am about an hour west of CHicago and it took me 19 hours. If its your first time driving down try to schedule your times to get to Atlanta way after rush hour. On the way home we hit it and added about 1 1/2 hours to our trip. For us 2 pm works well as we get to Atlanta around 1 AM and there is no traffic and get to disney area around 9 or so. Also I wonder if any of us will pass each other, LOL. we will be in a black trailblazer with a travel bubble on top with the disney family stickers on back with the dog also. We will be on channel 19 on the cb.:cool1:

Have a safe trip Audrey! See you soon!
I have made that long haul drive from Chicago too. I am now much older and less patient than I used to be!
I also don't have much available vacation time from work.

Have a safe trip Audrey. We will see you on the cruise. I have to say this is a group with the most adorable children. I can't wait to meet you all in person.
