Ahoy! Sailing the Wonder 2/8/09

Thanks for the treasure chest idea. Maybe I could use a treasure map for the scavenger hunt and end up at the treasure chest. Love it. Thanks.

I have a big box and inside it my boys 8 & 4 will find:
sunscreen
underwater cameras
pirate pj's
tie dyed mickey t-shirts
new swim suits
pillowcases embroidered with their fav Disney character & their names
color wonder paper and markers

I'm also making a DVD of pictures from our last cruise and the last frame is a poem I wrote to reveal the trip. (its back on pg 7 or 8 of this thread)

Please feel free to steal/copy any of these ideas

:firefight Anetnmike: Ok...so have your husband wear an International shirt (assume he's in the IAFF, right?) and I'll wear one of mine so we can pick each other out. During the sailaway party we always stand on the starboard (right) side of the ship (deck 9) and make trips back and forth to the bar :) . We stand on that side so we can walk over and see the employees waving goodbye as we leave...lol. DS loves to get on the pool cover and do his own thing...sometimes it's hard for him to get close to the stage because there are so many adults crowding the stage!!:confused3 LOL. Our son is easy going and loves to meet new friends as well!! We are huge pirate fans and DS usually dresses up for the Pirates in the Caribbean party pirate: . I have a great home made costume I wear at Halloween (I'm a huge halloween buff too) but I never bring it...I'll try to post it as my avatar soon. My current avatar is a pirate sail I made for halloween. If anyone else wants to join us for an informal "meet and greet" kinda thing during that time...you're more than welcome and you have the information...so....anyone interested??

I have done a group meet up on deck 9 for my last four cruises, always fun to meet new people. Maybe we can grab a group shot just before sailaway or just after.

Hey Mem22
Yep! He's IAFF and has a ton on T shirts. Good idea! We'll both probably have one on.My husband also has a very large Maltese cross on his right bicep. Tough to miss.
Sounds like our boys will get along great. I am so glad that there are a few guys his age going on this trip. On our last cruise there seemed to be more girls but we were with family and girl cousins didn't bother him. I think this group of boys will have fun!
Anyone else who would like to join us would be more than welcome! We are really looking forward to meeting new people. I love the idea of waving goodbye to the CMs in the port. Last cruise we searched in vain for dolphins following us out to sea on the other side of the ship.
I like the group shot idea pjpoohbear! :)

Anetnmike....well it sounds like we're all set! Maltese cross on the bicep...lol....whats it got on it? Badge number, dept. name? Is he a truck or engine guy, lol? Well, I certainly look forward to meeting you both for sure . Anet, is your son going to dress for the Pirate Party? Are you planning any excursions in the Bahamas? I can't believe no one else wants to meet except us and pjpoohbear :confused3 !! Everyone is welcome!!

Mike

I'm in for a meet! Sorry, life has been busy here with Thanksgiving and finishing up end of the year performance reviews at work.

Hey Everyone!
Mike-you'll have to see the tat- it is too detailed to describe here. You boys will have plenty to chat about I am sure! We are considering the stingrays at CC. I think we will be staying aboard when in Nassau, not sure yet. DS wants to dress up for Pirates too pirate:
Glad to see you back Jill! You sound ready for a vacation :woohoo:
How about everyone else? It is 21 degress and snowing here in Chicago. I'm ready NOW!!!

Hey Anetnmike! First time we went on a Wonder Bahama Cruise we did the Dolphin Encounter thing and it was great. We went on a 3 night this past Feb and stayed on the ship. I think we'll do the same this time :thumbsup2 . I already got my son's pirate costume out although he has no clue we're going :rotfl2: . We always just surprise him on the day we leave...he loves it that way :yay: . When we get to Castaway Cay I think my DS and I are going parasailing :scared1: !! lol. Do you guys have anything planned for Castaway Cay? Oh...I changed my avatar to my pirate costume...kinda too small to see though...pirate: LOL!! Jill...are you sailing alone?

Mike

Hello All,

I just found this site and we are booked for this cruise also. My wife, my 3 year old daughter and myslef along with my MIL. will be traveling. This will be our first Disney Cruise, my first cruise period my wife has cruised before. We are getting excited. We just got back form WDW where we stayed 11 nights. So now its time to get ready for the cruise.

I saw some are from the Chicagoland area, we are form North Aurora, and we will be driving down.

Looking forward to learnign this site and hopefully meeting you all on the cruise.

George

Welcome!

I am cruising with my DM. This will be my 6th DCL cruise, or cruise period, lol.

Explore, ask questions and we will all help out as much as we can. Don't forget to head to the DCL site and book and Palo dinners or brunch, excursions or spa treatments right now, as they no longer hold any reservations for onboard booking, but if there are left overs from on-line booking those will be open for onboard booking.

Welcome George and family!

I live in South Aurora......Colorado! :)

I'm organizing the Fish Extender exchange if you are interested in particpating. Look up a few posts for the info I need and I'll add you to the list.

Thanks for the welcomes. We are starting to get more excited. It was hard when we had the WDW trip still infront of us. Now that we are back 2 days its time to get ready for the cruise. This cold weather, is insane.

Anyways I was thinking of booking a spa treatment for my wife as a surprise as her birthday is 2/13. For the ladies that have done them, what do you suggest and what day would be the best to get it done.

I will look back as to what a FE actually is, and let you know.

Thanks

Welcome George! You will LOVE the cruise, this is our 3'rd and we're absolutely hooked. As far as the spa I've done a massage and a haircut there and both were really great. I'm sure she'll be thrilled with whatever you get her. The best day to do this is the day at sea or if you can get a massage in the cabana at castaway key that's even better but the spa it'self is a treat.

Thanks. This is a great site, I usually go to another forum about WDW which is great, but not much in regards to the cruises.

My duaghter turns 3 in January, and is currently not potty trained. We are working on it but she is afraid of the toliet. So our hopes is to have her trained before the trip. And its my understanding if she is not trained by the cruise she cannot go to the kids club. She needs to go to the day care part of it. Where we have to pay the per hour rate. Which one should I register her for. Can I change once we get on board. I am hoping she will be but you just never can tell with these things.

Thanks

George, register her for the clubs, at the port there is a check in desk, before we board and you can make any change you need to then. Easier to have her all ready to go if she is ready for the club.

If you aren't planning an all day excursion for Nassau, that might be a great day to book a treatment in the spa. If you want to splurge on her, maybe the Alone Time in a Spa Villa or I hear the hot rocks treatment is extremely relaxing.

Hello George and family! The more the merrier! The spa treatments are wonderful! and for me anytime is good. The services are a bit pricey in compared to spa services in my area, but it is a vacation and to be expected. Take the time to do dinner at Palo for your DW too 0 it is WELL worth it! We are getting really excited as the weather in sunny SC is MUCH cooler than usual for this time of year! We have already had a hard freeze and usually doesn't happen for us until at least January. I'm all up for a meet n greet, but DH is slow to warm up to new people, so don't expect much from him! I am excited about revealing this trip to the kids DS (8 & 4) and I hope they will be able to PM some of your own children. You guys don't forget the lime greem mickeys ("official" logo of DISer's) that are available in the paint dept of Home Depot. I have one that I laminated to hang on my backpack. You all have a great week!

Hello George!
We are practically neighbors! We live in the Plainfiled area.:cool1:
I am sure your family will LOVE the cruise experince from start to finish! This is a great site. Full of tons of info and really nice people with answers to every question imaginable! I love reading trip reports too to get an idea of what plans to make for our trip.
I am right there with ya on the insane weather. I know this is Chicago and it does happen every year here but...:scared1:
I am SO ready to go where it's warm:cool2:

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

My wife is also slow to warm up to new people but me I'll talk to anyone. So I am looking forward to meeting you all.

I have never been to Nassau, and my wife has just suggested to go to the beach, since we are not big trinket shoppers. So I am fine with that.

As I progress more into this I am sure I will have more questions.

Is anyone planning on staying at the radisson in Cape Canveral the night prior to we leave?
