Ahoy November 12th, 2009 Cruisers!!

Who's all going to Sea World? We are tentatively planning on going on Sunday after getting off the cruise..... and Discovery Cove on Monday, although will be staying at Bay Lake Tower Sun-Wed nights.... Mainly going to do the shows at Sea World. I loved it as a kid and it was so close to us, just an hour away till it closed when Matti was about 3.

Keeping my fingers crossed we all continue to be healthy. Flu is really bad here, nearly closing many schools. Girls got their mist on Tuesday so hoping their immunity kicks in here. They are counting the school days down. School parties went well today... girls looked too cute(not that I am prejudice or anything)

Thanks Lynn for the Bracelets, we got em :)

Hi there! I have been reading through this thread for a few days and figured it was time to jump in and say hi. I am traveling with my dh and dd on the bounceback offer. We cruised in March and can't wait for the next one.

:dance3:

I just bought 2 way radios that are up to 16 mile range - that's enough right? I figure all that metal of the ship would count like the urban range on the back of the box so It won't be anywhere near 16 mile range but should be enough...?

Hey Tracey...16 miles should be plenty. I think we have a set that is 24 miles and another set that is 12 miles. It is a great way to communicate while you're on the ship. It certainly has it's limitations though. If say you're in Parrot Cay and you want to talk to Nick on deck 5 forward it probably won't work. It works great if you can get to some open air space, ie.. Deck 4 lounge chairs to the sports deck, room veranda to Beach Blanket Buffet, etc. Works awesome on Castaway Cay and I'm sure it works great from areas in Nassau back to the ship (depending again where you are on the ship). It has saved us tons of time looking for each other and you can keep tabs on what everyone is doing and where they are. :thumbsup2 Oh...and I love your pictures!!. See everyone soon!!! :grouphug:

Welcome aboard! Looking forward to smooth sailing! There are several of us doing the bounceback this trip. Kelly

Hey Lynn, got ours too! tried to outline em in fine Sharpie already too! We are in single digits until we leave :woohoo:

Happy Halloween everyone!

I'm finishing up FE gifts tonight. Finally starting packing. I have got to get my schoolwork done tomorrow. I'm oncall this weekend and had a work call all morning which put me behind THE PLAN! :)

This time next week I'll be sitting at SSR drinking the first of many chocolate martinis! :)

and we're packing...

The excitement in our house is incredible. Not sure how they are going to make it thru 8 more days of school! Our schools policy is to not send stuff beforehand, but every year the teachers have given them a few things. Not big deal as they wont' be back in school till the week of Thanksgiving and they only go 2 days then, so will have all of Thanksgiving break to get caught back up. Trying to pack, but finding that we must have left a few things in Virginia Beach this summer. Missing dd's pink shorts that go to a tank(have the tank), oldest dd's Pens Stanley Cup T and MY Mickey Mouse zip hoodie. Was planning on hitting the outlets this time since we will have a car, but that isn't till after the cruise.....so really hoping my mickey hoodie shows up!! Can't wait to be in the Florida sun!

I remember reading back a few pages or so and saw there are several going to WDW before the cruise. Was there an official meeting at WDW set up? or just the one on the boat?
We will be at the Poly for 4 days before, but the kids don't know that part yet! DH has been down with kidney stone issues the last 2 days...I hope its gone before we go!!

No official meet set up. I know I'm meeting up with Lynn Wednesday night and then breakfast Thursday morning before we go to to port. I arrive Saturday night and will be at SSR until Wednesday then moving to OKW. Let me know if you want to meet up one day.

Hope your DH is feeling better! No kidney stones are allowed at WDW or on the cruise. :)

Prayers that he passes it quickly. Never had one but my mom did once, they are not pretty! We are going to the world after the cruise. Worked out better so they have all of Thanksgiving break to make up school work. Our school has a policy that you can't get work ahead of time(although the teachers have always just given us some without asking). I have never seen my girls as excited as they are for this trip. The weather forecast is looking great too! Have a great week everyone!!!

I really feel for him. I fell last April and broke my Tibia and my Fibula that was nothing compared to my Kidney Stone. I am sure it will pass well before the cruise. Mine came on 9/09 and I was pain free by 9/13. Hope he feels better soon :flower3:

Help! Asking you my fellow Cruisers about cell phone service. I posted on the Disney Cruise Line Forum into another thread but thought I might have better luck here. Here is the quesiton:

I hate to be a dunce but since some of you have experienced this already I thought I would ask. I have Verizon and they said t would cost me $2.49 per minute as listed in some posts I have read here. My question is it is $2.49 (Verizon charge) + $2.99 (Disney/Cellular at Sea charge) = $5.48 per minute total.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Will we be in port or at sea when you make your phone call? I made calls from St. Thomas and St. Croix and wasn't charged anything other than my reg. minutes. I had Alltel @ the time (now Verizon).

OMG!! You are starting to sound more and more like Wendy ;)

I think I have about 1/16 of my packing done....2 out of 3 kids are done...but I still need to check their clothes...I have no clue what I'm wearing or how the heck I'm getting to the airport....have a few more days...LOL!

Bathing suit is packed and unmentionables....like I said before...that's all that matters....LOL.

St Thomas and St Croix are US territories so the US carriers generally include them in their "nationwide" coverage. I know Spint has the USVI and Puerto Rico. The Bahamas would fall under International rates.

Calls on the ship would be subject to the Disney charge AND your carrier's charge. You might want to look into adding an international plan just for the month and then drop it once you are back which "should" lower the amount of Verizon's charges.

I am in the same "boat" :rotfl: I can't imagine not talking to my husband and my mom for two days, but I that is what we decided as I had posted those questions and most thought it was going to be the $5.48. I may drop an email to them, otherwise we are doing the no news is good news and I will only call if I have a problem. I plan on calling before we leave port(430ish or so) and then again Sun morning.

Another option is there are international calling cards, but I didn't see the bahamas listed on the one I looked at, so I wasn't sure how much time there would be on it.
