We leave in 2 days, this is the first trip for our 6 month old and I am freaking out. What shoudl I definatey NOT forget to pack, something you all wished you had taken but forgot??? Any helpful hints? Also, what kind of high chairs do most restaurants use?:earseek:

I can't tell you what to pack - but whatever you forget you will be able to get either at WDW or just outside, so don't panic.

the highchairs are the low backed wooden ones that pull up to the table. A very very few restaurants have infant chairs that are like a car seat, but I wouldn't count on them - nearly everywhere had the wood ones which means that your baby needs to be sitting pretty confidently to use them, or else some sort of support would be useful.

If you use a "unique" baby food (like a particular cereal from Earth's Best), do not assume you will be able to find that particular brand at a single grocery stop -- bring it with you. Diapers, wipes, sunscreen, disposable changing pads, diaper creme, etc., can all be bought in Orlando. :)

Have fun!

We went with our two kiddos last year, the youngest was 9mo - we needed a thermometer (he got sick while there). It was suprisingly hard to come by. And depending on where your baby is sleeping - bring an extra crib/pack and play sheet. ANd our most helpful item was an antibacterial hand wipe - for whatever needs to be clean, including some tables. Having your own car there helps a lot when traveling with little ones just in case some of these things are forgotten. Have a great time! ;)

Baby sunscreen, a hat, extra lightweight blankets for warmth at night and shade during the day, poncho to throw over the stroller if it looks like rain (nothing worse than a soggy stroller), the disposable changing pads by Huggies are nice, Baby Bjorn for the lines....

I think all of the restaurants have the typical wooden highchairs that you see in most restaurants. If you need anything in the parks each park has a baby care center. These are great- you can buy baby food and juice there. The have great changing tables and high chairs like you would have at home. They also have rocking chairs and a nursing room. The one in MK is right beside the crystal palace, not sure where the others are but they are usually near the front of the park I think:earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: pirate:

There are two things I always carry when I travel with a baby: a couple of flat cloth diapers, and a bottle of simethicone drops (aka Mylicon)

The diapers are hugely useful. They are soft and absorbent, so they are great for mopping up all types of spills, or drying off if you get caught in rain. They dry quickly, so if you wash them out at your hotel, they will be dry again in the morning. You can even use them to drape over the stroller hood to block the sun from a sleeping child.

Sometimes local water can differ a bit from that at home, even if you are using bottled water. Travel (especially air travel) can disturb digestion a bit, as can changes in feeding schedules. Simethicone is priceless to have around if a baby develops a bad case of gas. Even babies who are exclusively breastfed may need it at times.

Baby Mortrin, and any other medication you think you might need. (we needed Benardyl one time since baby had allergic reaction to antiboic she took before the trip.) If you bring a thermometer don't pack in on your carry one. We did one year and TSA had problem with it, and took our whole bag apart looking for the pointy thing.

I don't go to WDW with out my own stroller and rain cover. Swim diapers can be bought there but pricey, so bring your own. Extra passifers if you need them. Your baby's favorite blanket and toys. Baby sun screen. Camera and flim, camcorder too.

Don't worry too much, you can buy most things. Have a great time.

:tilt:
They are VERY expensive in WDW ie Benadryl was $8.25 but if at WalMart $3.00.

Other things that I thought of:
Motrin, Tylenol, Hand Sanitizer, Wipes, BABY SOCKS and H20. We bought a case of it at Publix.

You can buy disposable "sticker" thermometers that stick to a child's armpit like a bandaid. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000535O3/103-0877825-0039818?v=glance
They are not as fine-tuned as a regular or electronic model, but I think that they are fine for travel; they may not register a small fever, but for anything that is serious, the sticker will clearly indicate it. I always keep a pkg. of these in my toilet bag in case of fevers while traveling. I also carry small bottles of all the OTC meds we might need. It's not that you can't buy them there, but who wants to bother with the hassle of making the trip to get them when a child is wailing? Simethicone I always carried in my diaper bag, the rest I left in my room.
