I absolutely agree with Darrow4. Background on us...first cruise ever, have dd (3) and ds(5), been to to WDW many times but also have done many all inlcusives in the caribean.

I believe (no flames please) that some people just love everything disney no matter the quality or price. and thats ok for them.

we had balconey room 7th floor. The cabin was nice and can't believe other cruise lines are smaller because it still felt small to us. My opinion...verandah a must and would never cruise without it. We spent a lot of time in the room..2 reasons very bad weather most of the trip and my kids are still quite small. We loved the Oceaner's club and so did the kids but they would stay in longer than hour or so. word of caution my dd is newly potty trained does fine at home but had several problems in the club. they will not assist the kids in the potty and dd was too small to get up on the potty herself. also, she is still at that stage that she needs to be reminded every hour or so to go. don't get me wrong...the staff is wonderful and i loved the club just wish the kids would have used it more.

The shows at night are wonderful. and dinners and food are very good and definately kid friendly. LOVED room service option. that is wonderful with small kids.

The cons: the mickey pool gets so crowded by mid day that you can't use it.
you feel nickel and dimed everytime you turn around. they charged $18 for a pail and shovel set on CC. The trip was very expensive and for us was not worth it.

if anyone has questions i'd be happy to answer them.

I want so badly to do a short cruise on DCL and then spend the rest of the week with our DVC timeshare. I just can't get past the large price tag that comes along with the cruise. It was close to 5 grand for a 4 night cruise in June of '08, family of 4. I know that we'll still be spending another grand minimum on board. Help me to justify this. Have you ever cruised on another cruise line? Thanks

Can you use points for your cruise and maybe stay at WDW in a "value" hotel for cash? We have used points for the cruise 3 times and feel that it's actually a better way to spend our points, since when you use them at a resort, you are just getting a place to stay , and on the cruise you are also getting your food as well as a place to stay. The Disney cruise IS very expensive, and yes, we have cruised on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean also. We feel that the Disney ship is worth the price, mostly due to the level of service you get. On the other lines it seems that they are almost "doing you a favor" to wait on you. Food seems to be the same on most ships, but the Disney "fast food" by the pools is a bit better than most, though. Although Disney SAYS that their cabins are so much larger that the industry standard, you have to remember that the Disney ships are getting old now, and there are many, many ships that have cabins at least as large as the Disney ones. They were very large when they were created, but time marches on. Disney is the best choice if you are cruising with kids and teens as they have so much to offer, and the shows are definitely geared to kids. Good luck with whatever you choose - enjoy!
