Aghast about Big Thunder

I see BTMR is down from April 3rd.....noooooo! This is an absolute favourite, and we are finally coming back to Disney from NZ after a 6 year hiatus (a very long time for us). Can anyone tell me how long it will be down?

I saw that too. We were planning on having our 6 year old on it for the first time. It’s my fav WDW ride, so I was looking forward to it at DL!

I saw somewhere it was only closed for a week or less in WDW, so hoping the same here.

I'm sorry, it's my favorite too. We usually ride it 2x/day if we can. It'll be open still on the first day we're there, but then closed after, so we're going to make it a priority that first day.

Just a theory, but since BTMRR isn't listed as "unavailable" for Throw Back Nite or Star Wars Nite, it makes me think it will be open by then. Hopefully just a short refurb, but still disappointing for those who'll miss it.

Feb-May is traditionally refurb wall season at DLR so it is always a crap shoot if you book your trip and have must-do attractions to hit.

IJ is listed as not available for Throwback Nite. However, it is NOT on the list of unavailable attractions for Star Wars nite. So my guess is it could open between April 20th and May 2.

So now I'm panicking because I see that the Matterhorn may not be running during Throwback Nite...my trip literally starts the next day. Is the Matterhorn really closing again, even after the long refurb it just had?! Every single time I've been to Disneyland, it's been closed. I was so looking forward to riding it for the first time.

I hope not! It’s my favourite ride and it has been down the last two times I visited. I’m going end of April so I’m excited to ride too. It was just closed in October, so hopefully she’s good for a long while.

I think it might have something to do with the fireworks. Don’t they usually close it during fireworks? Someone who attends more frequently could confirm or debunk this.

They close the Railroad during fireworks, and don’t bring it back after.

BTMRR is open all night. It’s fun to ride DURING the fireworks!

This is going back a few years but we were lucky enough to ride Matterhorn during the fireworks and it was amazing!

Matterhorn is definitely on the closure list released today for April 18. We were planning to ride April 20, so not good news.

Love how they just sneak these closures in quietly. Our favorite ride as well. Will obviously be down for our trip too. Matterhorn is rarely one of those quick refurbs.
