Ages for kids club?

Hi, I was wondering how strict they are about the upper age limit on the kids clubs? My oldest daughter is a young (as in more into younger activities) 13 year old, and we are cruising on the Dream in January. She is heartbroken that she is too old for the Oceanears Club. She tried the Edge on the Magic last December and really didn't enjoy it. Partly because our other three kids hang out in the club and she was the only one that went the the Edge. (Even my 12 year old prefers the Club). Can I ask for her to have access to the club so she can be with her three siblings on the cruise or are we really out of luck now that she is 13? (Obviously, last cruise she was still 12 and could go to the Club, so this is the first time she is too old). I don't know how many other kids will be cruising mid-January and if that will affect things. Also they just announced all this cool Star Wars stuff on in the club and she is a BIG star wars fan, so that doesn't help her feeling like she is missing out!

Thanks so much.

The upper age limits are hard limits with no wiggle room. She won't be allowed in the Club/Lab during secure programming, but she could go there during open house times.

Ok. Thank you very much. That is what I assumed would be the answer. We will just have to talk up the Edge to her this time around!

Might be worth asking. Several years ago my daughter was a couple of months over 18 and son was 16. They had previously enjoyed teen venue together but she was shut out. After a day or two she was miserable... Not a lot to do once 18 but not old enough to drink (that may have improved). Son wasn't enjoying as much either. We went to cruise director and said it would be last family cruise until both were 21+ unless it was fixed. She was allowed in teen club.

Yeah "several years ago". That all changed about 2 years ago. Top age in the clubs is now firm. No one over 17 is allowed to participate in Vibe. I would be very surprised if a 13 year old was allowed to participate in Oceaneer's during secured programming.

My daughter was just a couple weeks over and they said No :( It was tough as we were with 6 other girls between three families.

Sorry for your daughter. That sounds hard.

I will try to talk up the older club for her. She just likes to hang out with her siblings as she is a little shy and slightly immature in her ideas of what is fun. (Which is occasionally awesome but also a little harder for her). Maybe I can convince my 12 year old to hang out there with her so she won't be alone and make the most out of the open house times as well.

Thanks again.

Hi I am a youth activities Counselor. Unfortunately there will be absolutely no way that your 13 year old can go to the Club or Lab during secured programming. We physically wouldn't even b able to register her in the system. I suggest looking through previous navigators and getting Her excited for Edge programs. And please ensure she attends on the first night as this really does set the tone for groups and friends formed for the cruise. Also keep in mind that Edge on the magic and the dream are different and run slightly different programming and have different Counselors which can make all the difference :) of course she is more than welcome to attend any open house times. If you have further questions please let me know!
