We were not even considering the Dolphin swim until I got information here about booking it directly (saving $$$). The adult price is $30 a person less for the encounter, while the Disney excursion is $105 for the encounter the swim is only $99 on the dolphin discovery site!
However, while my DD#1 and DD#2 will be 12 and 9 and are strong swimmers, DS will be 6 and is not. He has had lessons but is still a little guy (only 44"). He won't be able to swim, will he? If he can't swim, I don't know if he and I will do the encounter while DH and the girls swim, or we will all just do the encounter.

Hey Rockin, just booked this excursion, the prices from disney are much more expensive than what you posted, the price for the encounter (the one where you are with the dolphins) is $180 for adult and $158 for a child, just to watch, the prices are $125 and $100. I would not worry about your son who doesn't swim well, from what I understand they give you a life jacket. I can't wait to do this!

WOW!!! I am just going by my passporter which has 105/90 as the prices. I know this is the only thing my sister and her family plan to do, and she is going by those prices as well. She was pretty happy I turned her on to the dolphindiscovery.com site. Did you book through there or through Disney?

There are two or three different dolphin excursions - depending on which itinerary you are on. The Anguilla Doplhin encounter on the eastern Magic is $180 for participants and $125 for observers.

Robin, I booked this excursion through Disney, and it is for the eastern 7 day cruise. It could be different for the western and 3 or 4 day cruises. The easiest way to find out, is to go to www.disneycruiseline.com then click on the top section to "fun onshore" there you can click on the excursions for every port, and it also has the prices, this way you can compare everything and they are the up to date prices. Any other questions feel free.

The minimum age for the swim is 8, according to www.dolphindiscovery.com. During the swim you get pushed by the noses of 2 dolphins on the bottoms of your feet and pulled along by holding onto their fins. It was great!

Hi Everyone,
I booked this excursion directly with dolphindiscovery.com
a couple weeks ago for the day we are in Cozumel on our June cruise. There are three different levels at three different prices which are explained in detail at their site. The least expensive is an encounter, where you are able to watch and touch the dolphins but you aren't in with them. The Dolphin Swim is 45 minutes in the water interacting with the dolphins as they do tricks etc. The Royal Swim adds an additional 15 minutes to the time, and you are actively participating with the dolphins as they do their routines-ex. they push you with their noses and pull you through the water etc.

If you see the "chat" icon when you visit the site you can talk "live" with a rep from the company, which I found very helpful.

I think there's an age limit for the swim because the dolphins are really large and powerful and even adults can be intimidated (even though my friend who did this swim said they are the gentlest creatures ever)

My younger daughter will be 11, and I booked an adult ticket also so either me or my DH will accompany her in the water. The rep told me I could try to fudge her age so we wouldn't have to buy the extra ticket, but if the people running the operations that day thought she was too young or looked too hesitant they could prevent her from going in without an adult; and at that point it would most likely be much too late to purchase that extra pass.

Hope this helps.

Help me to understand! There are 5 of us in our group. 3 of the 5 are going to do the dolphin encounter on our own in Cozumel. I emailed Dolphin Discovery and asked if the other 2 could watch. They responded by saying yes. They did not say there was a charge. Can someone explain?

Can DH and the girls (12 and 9) do the swim while DS and I do the encounter, or are they in different places?
Robin M.

The swim and encounter are in close to each other. Maybe 50 yards. DH and DS3 watched our entire swim from a pier directly above the platform where we were standing in the water. Yes, as long as schedules coordinate, you can split your groups for the swim and encounter.
