My parents are coming along with us on our Disney Cruise in November. I am a little worried that they might not enjoy it because they are older . Has anyone experienced older couples on a Disney Cruise ? If so , did they have a great time or not ?

Describe "older". :goodvibes

We're over 60 and we've just come back from our 11th DCL cruise. We didn't even start cruising until we were over 50, and DCL was our first. No reason "older" folks wouldn't enjoy a Disney cruise.

My parents LOVE DCL!! I love DCL!! It is for all ages!! Well, all ages over 6mo or 1year depending on itinerary!

Thanks for the replies . That is what I told my Dad today . They wanted to come along because DH are always talking about our next Disney Cruise. But , this is their first cruise ever . They travel by plane a lot and never by ship .

My DH was 66 on his first Disney cruise 5 years ago and we just did one over NYE (so he was 70). DM has cruised with me on DCL from 58 to currently (66). I think a cruise is good for any age :)

My parents were in their 70's for our first cruise. They had an amazing time and were hooked.

On our first DCL cruise in 2004 we took my mom and aunt who were in their mid 80s and they really enjoyed the cruise and spending time with family. Then on our 2008 cruise we had DH's mom who was 84 and mobility impaired. We had a wheelchair and she also had a great time. The thing that makes DCL special is that almost the entertainment is appropriate for all ages and the adults only areas are kept for adults only. You parents will enjoy the cruise.

My mom is in her early 70's and needed a scooter at WDW due to the extensive walking required there. She can walk just fine, but knee issues and such make long walks painful for her. Do you think she'd need a scooter on a cruise ship? Anyone have experience with elderly parents re this?

I know you can't say for sure as you don't know her, but I'd like to hear other people's experiences with this. Thanks.

we have gone with both my Mom and her husband and my in-laws...all in their 70's & 80's. They loved the cruise and there was plenty for them to do. My in-laws are not Disney people and have traveled extensively including many cruises, but they loved DCL. Have fun!

I took my Mom on a cruise when she was in her early 70's and she did okay walking around the ship. However, on excursions, I wish I had thought ahead to plan for a scooter or chair for her. It would have made it far more comfortable for her to get around. She held on like a trooper, but it was definitely a lesson learned to plan for one should she ever sail again.

I was 62 when I cruised on the Disney Wonder with my brother-in-law and his family. His mother-in-law was also on the trip at age 70. We all had a great time. I would do it again in a heart beat.

DH and I cruised for our first time ever and on Disney (without kids too!) back in Feb 2016 and we are close to our 50s. We actually talked with a couple on their 32nd cruise (very grey haired cute little couple) in their 80s without kids, grandkids, or great grandkids. We asked them "why Disney" and they said because no one does it like Disney. Plus they hardly notice the kids much. They did 2nd seating for dinner as less kids there and not so loud but they would even do character meet and greets still LOL They were such an awesome couple

My parents in their early 70s came with us on our first Disney Cruise (Fantasy) and are coming with us again next summer on the Magic. My in-laws of similar age have come too. We've only done one cruise without grandparents.

DMIL was in her late 80's on her last Disney cruise. She had her own wheel chair for the long hallways on the ships, and family members took turns "escorting" her. She really didn't have the reflexes to control a scooter at that point. The wheel chair was also very convenient in airports. Her favorite part of our cruises was visiting with her great-grand kids.
