Age for Autograph books?

At what age did your kids get into collecting autographs from the characters? My DS is 5, and I just can't imagine him getting into this. However, if he does, we'd want to be prepared by bringing different colored sharpies. Plus, I'm just curious. So, when did your kids get into collecting the autographs? Thanks!

My ds has been collecting autographs since he was 3 he will be 6 when we visit in sept he loves it & he loves looking @ his autographs between visits. He started collecting when he was three & still a little character shy it really helped him break the ice

DS was just shy of 4 when he started collecting autographs. He loves it. He pulls out the books all the time to see who signed it. He especially likes to see who signed all of his books vs. who he has only met one time.

My DD still loves to collect autographs at 9, but her biggest "autographing" trip was when she was 4. She really wanted to see all the characters, even more than the attractions LOL. We bought a great book at WDW that had the princesses on the front, and then each page was a picture sleeve on one side and an autorgraph sheet on the other. We had each character sign one page, and then put DD's pic w/ the character on the facing page (when we got home, of course.) This is still DD's favorite souvie from any Disney trip ever! (She's been to WDW 4 times, DLP once, and DL once). She even had it out looking at it again yesterday.


ETA: they do have a "boy" version of that book too, it's Mickey

You don't need sharpies for the autograph books, just a large sized pen for the furry characters with big hands. You do need sharpies if you're autographing a pillowcase, picture mat, hat, bag, etc.

DS and DNiece were two and five, respectively, on their first trip last May, and they loved collecting autographs. I made them books before we left. Since then, it's been photoautograph books (from Snapfish, etc.). DS (now 4) loves looking through his books!
