Age Appropriate Clothes

I used to LOVE Hello Kitty as a child. Kohls department store used to have a display island that had all sorts of HK trinkets like erasers, pens, notepads, jewelry, stickers, etc.
While I like many characters, wearing them just doesn't interest me. I've always been that way. I have never been able to find any clothes at WDW that I would want to wear....but I did think that many items were *cute*.

So at 43, I can't wear Betty Boop? Or a shirt that says: Don't make me call out my flying monkeys? OOPS! lol.

I can't stand the idea that any woman over 40 needs to cut off her hair and start wearing elastic waist stretch capris, dowdy tops and sensible shoes.

No, I would never wear a miniskirt at my age (40), or low cut, exposed midriff tops. But, give me a break... the idea that people would not take me seriously in full coverage t-shirt with a character on it is laughable.

It's sad to me that women need to give up any sense of whimsy in their wardrobe because they hit a certain age. That's depressing.

I wear Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell shirts now and then. If someone thinks it's silly for someone of my age to wear such clothing....oh well. They are welcome to their opinion, but I will wear what I want.

I'm in my 20's and wear "cartoon" tees when running errands or hanging out with my friends. In fact a lot of my friends wear them as well. The ones that don't would never tell me not to as they fit my personality.

Wear what you want and forget about what others say.

I say where whatever it is you wanna wear so long as it fits!!!!!

My wife wears those socks that have the ruffle on them sometimes. Certainly draws some looks but she knows how to pull off about anything.

Oh, and I have some superman underwear that I look spectacular in! :D

I am 43 and sitting here wearing my Donald Duck t-shirt and just got home and was carrying my d & b Mickey Mouse purse. I wear a Mickey watch and still love to wear Chucks too! My new favorite sweatshirt has Mater on it.

I guess I am completely inappropriate!

Eh, I don't think that a middle aged woman wearing a character shirt is trying to chase her lost youth. I see plenty of women wearing t-shirts and sweatshirts with college logos or sports logos and those don't seem that different than a character shirt to me. I'll wear both kinds of shirts occasionally and I'm 47.

However, I think it's kind of pathetic looking when I see middle aged women chasing their youth by dressing like the 50-something woman who was wearing a mini skirt and thigh high boots with a low cut tank top with lots of cleavage showing. My 20 yo dd was home from college and told me, "Mom, thank you for dressing age appropriately." :lmao:

Gosh, I'm 42 and the majority of my tshirts have Mickey Mouse on them. They sell them in adult sizes for adults to wear. I figure if I wasn't meant to wear them, they wouldn't be in my size.

I wouldn't wear a t-shirt with a cartoon character or saying on it, but it wouldn't matter to me if someone else did.

I usually don't pay that much attention to what people are wearing, but when I see that sort of ensemble on an older woman it does register as out.of.place. Especially when the older woman has long dyed hair, big hoop earrings, and long claw like nails. I do see it from time to time.

I think it's cute! I'm 47 & on weekends I wear Disney & Snoopy t-shirts. DD 18 says I just look like mom.

Enjoy wearing it :goodvibes

oh boy, i'm in trouble then... i just bought a pair of teenage mutant ninji pj pants to wear.. (i'm 38)

I don't do character clothing. My kids do character clothing either---it's just not us... So age really has nothing to do with it...
