Age Appropriate Clothes

Im 44 and I would wear it. I think it's cute. I like Hello Kitty.

Jeans and tee shirt are my usual wear. Today I had on one with a giant octopus on it.

OP here :wave2: Thanks for all of the replies - I always enjoy seeing different points of view.

I share the sentiment that a lot of you stated - "wear what makes you happy" - and have every intention of keeping (and wearing) it. I was just surprised that my friend not only thought it was inappropriate, but felt it strongly enough to say so. (At least I know for future reference that she will give me her honest opinion on things and not just say what she thinks I want her to say!).

It isn't my normal style - I just thought it would be cute for working out, or lounging at home.

Not to mention that it made me feel good to be able to shop in the Old Navy Woman's section and not the Old Navy Woman's Plus section - something I've never been able to do before :)

For working out on the track it is fine, I would not wear it shopping at the mall or anything like that though. I do think grown women look silly trying to dress like 16 year olds. I think it makes them look older, not younger, try to dress like a teenager.

You must think there are a lot of silly people at WDW then.

OP it is fine, wear it wherever you want and don't worry about what other people think.

I think you should rock the Hello Kitty T-Shirt with some feather extensions in your hair. :thumbsup2

Sorry, its a no-go for me. There are plenty of other options to look cute for a memorial/4th of july cookout. Maybe you could get it for just a lounge tshirt?

I like it! Even though it is Hello Kitty, it is pretty muted and not bright pink with glitter, so I think it is fine for anyone. In fact, I still see a lot of 30 somethings who wear a nice pair of dark jeans, a graphic tee, a jacket, jewelry, and boots when they go out with friends.

While there are some situations where I think clothing can make a difference, you can still have fun during other situations.

Ooops! I think I'm in trouble. I currently have on a shirt with Donald Duck on the front. In fact, hardly a day goes by that I don't have some character on the front or back of my shirt.

oh man, just wear it! :thumbsup2 It's not like it's a mini-mini skirt or beaded bra or something.

And really, 41 is old? Tell that to Halley Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz (38) etc....41 is the new 31!

Clinton and Stacey would not be amused thats for sure

Clinton and Stacey are two people who have no clue about what should be worn, yet have a show that sees fit to tell other people what to wear.

Only in America...Tiger

What about Britain where it all started as a BBC series? And all the other countries that also air the UK or US version of "What Not to Wear"?

I admit I have a hard time with their shoe choices. But I agree with what they say about clothing probably 90% of the time.

I'm not a cartoon t-shirt kind of person. I hate even letting my DD4 wear anything cartoon.. but I have had to ease up and allow some.

With that said, if you're okay with it, happy with it.. then so be it! :)

Just as I couldn't possibly care what you name your child or how much you spent on a purse.... if you like it, then wear it.

The concept of caring what other people do is so lost on me :confused3

They do have some good advice and I agree with much of it. However, sometimes they come up with stuff that is just ridicules and stupid.

If I had their figures - I WOULD walk around in mini-mini skirts and bras 24/7 :lmao:

Gotta dig out my legwarmers, too ...

Me too.

And considering that I turned 50 last week, and I'm planning on wearing a Mickey Mouse Stars & Stripes shirt this weekend, I'm certainly not going to tell you you'll look silly. :rotfl: And you know what? I've now lived long enough to not care what anyone thinks of what I wear. If it fits & I like it, I'm going to wear it.

I have every intention of wearing it, that's why I bought it. I was just curious if other people felt the same way as my friend, since it had never crossed my mind :confused3

I just saw you're from LI--so am I! Maybe we'll see each other somewhere & admire each other's shirts!
