Age Appropriate Clothes

What about Britain where it all started as a BBC series? And all the other countries that also air the UK or US version of "What Not to Wear"?

I admit I have a hard time with their shoe choices. But I agree with what they say about clothing probably 90% of the time.

I had no idea it was a British show. I just know Americans are so obsessed with fashion and such, as well as reality TV, so I thought it was started in the states. I just find it funny that people who don't dress that great, feel the need to give other people fashion advice.

I don't watch TV on a regular basis, but have watched the show a few times, and each time I watched, I thought most of their own clothing choices stunk. Some of the outfits that they themselves wear, as well as some of their choices for the guests are just plain ridiculous.

So, as far as the OP is concerned, if she wants to wear that shirt, she should. Who cares if her friend or Stacey or Clinton don't like it!

I have every intention of wearing it, that's why I bought it. I was just curious if other people felt the same way as my friend, since it had never crossed my mind :confused3

I guess I was directing that more at your friend and those who agreed with her. LOL. I simply don't understand why anyone would care.

I think it really depends on the person. Some 40somethings can get away with stuff like that, others can't.

Think Sex and the City: Carrie and even Samantha? Sure. A Hello Kitty shirt would look strange on Miranda or Charlotte.

I am 36 and wear WDW tee-shirts out and about running errands on weekends. It suits my style, though.

LOL - and I didn't mean to sound harsh - ahh, the joys of written communication, right? ;)

I bought this cute t-shirt from Old Navy - I've always loved Hello Kitty and thought it would be cute to wear on the weekends, or when I walked the track. One of my friends said it was too young for me - that no 41 year old should have cartoon characters on their chest?

What do you guys think?

Op, I have that same shirt and the one with Mickey on it. I'm not ashamed to wear it either. That's like saying grown folks shouldn't get excited because they're going to Disney World:confused3

AS long as you are leaving something to the imagination and keeping all your stuff covered up I don't see the issue with it:goodvibes

It depends on your style. Some "older" women can get away with wearing younger clothes. I have a friend who is 51 and looks hot in her blinged-out Miss Me jeans, while I've seen other moms try to maintain the teen look wearing Holister clothes and looking kind of ridiculous.

I myself wouldn't wear the shirt because my DD would not be caught dead with me if I had it on, but other women could wear it and look darn good (and not look like they are chasing their youth).

PS -- I think the classic Disney characters are universal for all ages. People don't judge others for wearing a Mickey t-shirt -- even grandmas can get away with it.

I'm 54 and often wear MM tees. Guess I'm wrong again. Oh well...

I would never wear a character t-shirt- ever!! I'm in my 20s for reference. They can occasionally be tasteful, but typically I think they should be for 9 or under.

30 something here. I'll wear my character tees if I want to and i really don't care what anyone else has to say about it. I wear a lot of Domo 'cause he's cool! I also wear jeans and Vans and all sorts of other stuff.

Like a few others here, I consider "hello kitty" to be a little girl cartoon, but classic cartoons to be more adult friendly. I can't remember exactly when hello kitty started, but I would never wear it. I figure if it came into popularity after I was already an adult, I'm too old for it.

The only reason I would wear a character for young people is if a child or grandchild gave it to me or if we were participating in an event featuring that character.

Aw, Hello Kitty isn't so bad. Or rather, it's so bad that it's good. Kinda like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I'm 60, and I wear character shirts. Mostly peanuts, some Disney (my favorite is Grumpy, which DW gave me because she said it suits me :rolleyes1 ) with a mix of some other stuff too. We grew up in the T-shirt era, and we wear lots of 'em still.

You're never too old to wear something that makes you happy.

You rock that shirt, mackeysmom!!

Hello Kitty was produced in 1974... so a decent amount of time ago (37 years).

I think it's cute and patriotic for this weekend and it doesn't look like it would be too revealing.

Go for it!

I think wear whatever makes you happy. I have loads of disney clothes and don't really care if others don't like that I wear them. I love disney so I will wear what I love :)

Cute shirt!:thumbsup2

I'm 40 and I have lots of cartoon tee shirts, I'm wearing a Spiderman one right now. I buy what I want and don't care what other people think.
