Did anyone see the luggage "mishap" on America's funniest home videos?

It showed one of the big metal crates where they put all your luggage being lifted onto a cruiseship (I don't know which one). The cable broke and all the luggage ended up in the water!!!!

I saw that! Afterward, I was trying to remember if I saw DCL load the luggage by ramp to the lower levels of the ship. I would hate to start out a trip like that.

I said to DH I should NOT have just watched that. I know the day we board the ship I will not get that image out of my mind until all our luggage is in our room, safely, LOL!

I think DCL has forklift drivers on the pier that "drive" the crates onto the ship.

CM_Mom is right, DCL uses forklift to drive the luggage. Our stateroom on deck 2 was right above where the forklift drives in, so we watched the forklift going in and out. It was kind of neat at first, but quickly got bored and it was very noisy.

The only time I ever watched DCL load luggage - was when we sailed out of Port Everglades. They used the forklift method there -- and since we were informed by the CM's on the ship -- they transported the dock crew & porters from PC I would assume that is the way they usually load luggage.

I did witness a minor luggage incident after the boat docked. I was sitting on my verandah watching them move the luggage to the terminal when I notice that one of the crates was overloaded. I could tell from my view point that some of it needed to be taken off. Why the forklift driver could, I do not know, but they proceeded to pick the crate up anyway and midway between the trip, off tumbles about 10 bags! I guess it was a good thing they didn't tumble as the crate was coming off of the ship!
