Looking for some reviews from those that have done this recently. My mom and brother will be joining my family when we go in December. The "guys" (DH, DS9 and my brother) will be spending some time together on one of our downtime days (possibly renting out a boat since we will be staying at CBR). While they are doing that, I suggested to my mom that we have a "ladies day" and go for afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian, which she is all for.

I've already checked out AllEars and the prices aren't too bad. Pretty much what I expected compared to the tea house we have in our area. I'm just curious as to what the "custom blend" tea consists of as AllEars does not mention what it is :confused3

Btw, I've already looked and found out that this is not a participant of the DDP, which is ok.

Thanks!

In Feb. dd(16) and I went here. We shared a Buckingham Palace. Dd got the vanilla Rooibos tea and I got a coke. They only charged us for the coke and 1 Buckingham Palace. We loved it, they even gave us enough for two. We ended up taking some with us. This is a must for us every trip.

Sorry I can't answer your question about the house blend tea, but I did want to say that the Afternoon Tea is wonderful. My girls and I have gone there twice now and have decided to make this a must do for us (of course we leave dad to do something else since he is not into that sort of thing). You will really enjoy yourself, have a great time.

I dragged my family there in July and they loved it. Even DH! I do not know how they blend their tea, but it ws a wonderful, slow paced, relaxing mid afternoon break. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I did it in May with one of the Breast Cancer girls. She terated me for my birthday.

It was wonderful!! We had Patricia for our server, see if you can get her. Make sure you have an adr because at that time of year, there are no walk ups, saw this last december when we were there too.

We both had the Buckingham. I didnt like the onion tart. Also I think I didnt care for the pear sandwich. We asked if we could sub the trifle for dessert and it was delicious.

The tea we had might have been one of the special blend ones, it was called Mad Hatter. You can also buy the teas there too. I cant remember if that tea was actually on the menu, or it was one we picked after Patricia described it to us.

We will be there Nov.28-Dec3rd and I couldnt convince dh to do this, so we are going to the GFC for lunch instead.

You will love it, especially seeing the gingerbread house and the tree too!

we went early july and it was wonderful :) my mother and myself had the grand tea... i chose the silver leaf tea... very light which was perfect for summers hot weather. my husband had the prince edward tea with port... and the kids both had mrs potts tea. our girls are 4&7 and opted to have tea rather than chocolate milk... they are super girly and insisted it be tea :cutie: they drank the princess breakfast tea and enjoyed it. the tea sandwiches were all good... if i recall correctly about 4 types? i also remember enjoying 3 very much and the other was so so. the scones and cream were noteworthy as well... esp the cream :thumbsup2 this could definitely pass for a full meal in my book and i would recommend the experience to anyone who might be inclined. we will definitely be back in the future. im sorry but i dont recall on the custom blend but hopefully all of that helps a little :goodvibes have a great trip!

I love afternoon tea at the GF. My husband and I really enjoyed it. So much so that we will be doing it 2 weeks from tomorrow. Our 15y/o son is not interested and is on his own lol. You are in luck regarding the custom blend I have a tin so here on the ingredients:
Golden Assum, Keemun, black tea and Earl Grey. I really like the blend it's smooth and isn't too flowery.

DH and I really enjoyed it..we both had the tea with little sandwiches, pastries, strawberries and fresh cream, scones too. Everything was very good and if you didnt like any items on the sandwich plate you could sub out for others. The teas were awesome! I think DH had the vanilla roobios and I had the Mad Hatter which was a fruity tea with a hint of vanilla

It was a nice relaxing lunch and it was great to cool down from the parks.

We are planning on doing it again this Oct, but not eat the same thing. Of course we will have tea and just the scones and strawberries and cream, maybe pastries...more like a snack between lunch and dinner.

Thanks for the replies! I will definately make ADR's ahead of time for that. When I suggested to my mom of going, her eyes lit up. We've taken her to a local tea house here a few times and she's loved it.

My mom is still trying to get used to the fact that we have to make ADR's prior to going down. She's used to going someplace and deciding that day what and where she wants to eat. The last time my mom and brother were in WDW was in 1993. As you know, there was no DDP back then so you could make your decision as well as reservations that day. Not so anymore. DH and I will be helping them out with ADR's since we did back in 2006 on our last trip down.

does anyone recall what the tea sandwiches were? I like that you can sub out, just worried about tuna. TIA~

I can remember one was egg salad because I have never eaten egg salad. I think one was a cucumber sandwich. Sorry I can't be more help.

Here's a link for the food served but didn't have what type of sandwiches.
