I'm thinkning about doing ones of the teas the GF offfers, but i want to know what it's like first, has anyone been, phtos would you recoomend it?

I've been twice and absolutely loved it.

The first time was with 2 women about my age (OK, I'm 30s, they're 40s).

The second time was with one of those same women, my husband, and her two teenage SONS and EVERYONE loved it!

The teenagers didn't think they wanted the fancy-smancy tea food....until they saw ours, lol. Then they ordered some too. They had iced tea instead of hot.

Sorry no pictures but, I'd highly recommend it to anyone! And I know the menu is on the AllEars site.

The Garden View Lounge is very "Victorian" in decor. The servers are either maids or butlers in Victorian-era dress. The menu is quite extensive and the service is quiet and refined. I think it is a nice place to go to, especially if dinner will be late.

Officially there is no formal dress code, but it is extremely rare to see people there in "park casual".

My husband and I LOVE the Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian! It's a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. If you are having this as a main meal of the day, I highly recommend the Buckingham Palace tea. The assortment of tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts are quite filling. (If you do not wish to have the sparkling wine, you can substitue sparkling cider like I did.)

The Buckingham Palace does not come with sparkling wine. But I agree it is quite filing. I had it as a late lunch and never did get dinner that night. Looking forward to returning this fall.

We did this during our trip this year. When I started talking about it with my husband he was not thrilled...said he would have to leave his "man card" at home before we left. But I won that "battle" (lol) and we went. DH and DD LOVED it. When I asked about next year's trip they both said make sure to make us reservations there. You can see the menu at www.allearsnet.com. It was really good. I did learn that for DD (age 12) it is best to let her order a la carte. She was really only interested in a pastry and the chocolate covered strawberries! I also learned that I don't need the big Grand Tea...I'll actually be quite happy with the Sally Lunn Tea. We booked a reservation after 3pm and the piano player was in the lobby by then so we had lovely music to go along with our afternoon tea! Go...you will enjoy it!

I was there about a month ago and try to go at least every three months. Usually it is DH and I. He really likes the Aft Tea also.
We also usually each order the Buckingham Palace.
Some other options include wine. But just tea is all we want for a beverage. They also have coffee selections. However I have never had the coffee -- just the tea.
It was probably just under a year ago they switched tea brands. They liked the previous brand. However we were told that brand was available through other sources, and they wanted to be unique. So they switched to the brand "Tea". Last time I drank Eros and it was very good.
I also noticed recently at Boma they offered the tea "Eros". I did not order any, but I wondered if it was the same as the Aft Tea has.
The Aft Tea also takes the DDE. :woohoo:
Now that I am thinking about it -- think I will make an ADR.

Love, love LOVED tea. Hope to get to sneak it into our next trip at some point, maybe just me and my dad :) The food is incredible and it's so relaxing and pretty there.

Only one warning LOL if you plan to order the sally lunn bread, I would recommend an earlier ressie rather than later. We had the first ressie of the day and were seated first but still had the misfortune of having our order taken behind a large bridal shower that came in afterward- every single one of whom ordered the Sally Lunn tea- and they ran out of their entire supply for the day (they told us that they only bake so much every day) I would have thought that they would bake more if they knew a big group was coming, but it didn't go that way. My FIL actually got the last slice and let me have a taste, it was insanely good LOL. I can't wait to go back again and order it, unless we get booked by another wedding group LOL!!!

:)

I made an ADR for in a few weeks.
I always call it Afternoon Tea. Whenever I make the ADR I am reminded it is Garden View Tea. :cutie:
I am surpised at their hours -- 2:00 - 6:00. You would almost think at the earliest/latest it would be noon - 5. :confused3 I wonder how many they get for the 5 - 6 p.m. crowd. It must work though, otherwise they would change the hours.

My family and I absolutely LOVE the GF tea, we make sure to stop in on every visit to Disney. Its nice to go on a rainy day when the air conditioning makes your wet clothes cold; the tea is a nice contrast. Also, I have gone around 5:30pm, right before it closes, and been offered the left over pasties that were not ordered but had already been made. I don't know if that is typical, but it definitely was a nice surprise. Who doesn't love freebies?

oh and if you're going to go a la carte i recommend the strawberries and whipped cream and the scones with devonshire cream. I also love the peppermint tea!

I have been twice, and I think it is wonderful. The atmosphere is so beautiful and relaxing, and the food is very tasty. I had the Buckingham both times. If you aren't sure what type of tea you want, they will be bring the loose tea for you to smell so you can make a decision.
