We have always been rope droppers and then after lunch returned to the room for either a nap or to swim. We then return to the park for dinner and stay until the park closes. I am concerned with Genie+ that we won't be able to do that on our upcoming trip May 14-21st. Has anyone had success being able to take a break in the afternoon? We are staying at the Poly. I don't think I can go open to close. Any tips would be appreciated. I know about stacking but have also heard that picking a time is hard because you get whatever is available. TIA

Yes, it can be done. You know your LL eligibility times (for example, 7am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm -- depending on what time the park opens).

I recommend studying the LL availability data at thrill-data.com at those times, and you will be able to come up with a plan for which LL to book at which times to maximize stacking for the evening, and also figure out what you want to rope drop and what attractions to do standby in the morning.

That 2 hour thing only applies until you use your first Genie. If your first Genie is earlier than when your 2 hour window would open, you have reset your 2 hour window. For example, we booked our first Genie at 7am with a 10am return time. Hollywood Studios opened at 8:30am to general public (8 onsite). Based on opening time, I would have been eligible to book my next ride at 10:30. BUT, because my ride was at 10am, I got a jump on things. I reset my booking clock.

We did best when we were using Genie on things that had near immediate return times so we could tap in and then book our next thing immediately.

You can definitely really get rolling on booking once you get past that original hold in the morning.

That's true, but that would preclude you from getting a Slinky Dog Dash LL in the evening stack. (It needs to be booked at 7am, because it will be gone by 10:30am.)

Would it be beneficial to go to AK in the morning and try to get a LL for 745am or so and then be able to start stacking for HS at 745,945,1145,145,345? I understand you might not get SDD but that should free up almost everything else if you start with ToT and go from there, right?

I do this all the time. I just continue to book Genie+ rides and stack them for return in the evening. Last trip, we did not arrive until the afternoon, booked Genie+ rides all day and just spent the evening using all after 6 pm (MK)
Quick Q - do you need to respect return times for all the stacked LL bookings or will they accept any return time that day? If they don’t, isn’t it difficult to get the rides you want at the times you need? Thx

You need you need to return during the return time - there is a buffer of 5 mins before/15 mins after. We had no issues, we even had 4 rides that overlapped and were able to hit all 4.

For the day we were only going in the evening, I just waited a few minutes after 7 am - and picked Jungle Cruise, because it usually has evening return times shortly after 7. From there, I just picked the rides that had return times after 5 pm when it was time to pick based on the one I ideally wanted to get. A couple times I had to wait a bit for a ride time to be booking far enough out.

Yeah, that should work pretty well.

7:45: get Tower of Terror
9:45: get Millenium Falcon
11:45: get Rock n Roller Coaster or Runaway Railway
1:45: get Toy Story Mania

I checked thrill-data.com for today, and this would work. If you are going during a less busy time, you might be able to get RnRC or Runaway Railay at 1:45, and then get Toy Story Mania at 3:45

Thx, this is helpful

Genie+ is the best way to do afternoons. We spent a few mornings boating on the Indian River, and then afternoons/evenings at the parks. We saved up our LL for later and it was a very enjoyable way to beat the lines.

We're afternoon breakers too, and we usually switch parks when we go back after the break. My plan is just to stack Genie+ whenever it becomes available. So if do our last Genie+ at 12:30 before leaving the park, then I'll make sure that we book something at 2:30 and then as often as I can before we get back to the park. Usually we go straight to dinner from our afternoon break, so in that case I'd also book another while at dinner. The other strategy depending on where dinner is could be booking one Genie+ during the break when it comes up, for right before our dinner (assuming there's availability). So if dinner is at 5:30 in Epcot then maybe I book Spaceship Earth at 5:00. Then we can hit the ride via Genie+, then book another Genie+ that falls after dinner.
