After you email a trade request......

How long should you wait for a reply?
I emailed a trade request to someone, then of course within 8 hours someone else sends me a request asking about some of same pins. I let them know those pins are on hold at the moment because I do want to give the person I emailed time to decide/respond.

So how long do I wait?
How long does it usually take you to respond?
I need advice on this one!

If you did it through the TA, I generally give it 24-48 hours. Sometimes folks are on vacation or can't get to their computer, so I prefer to give them benefit of the doubt.

I agree with Ashley. I usually will give them 2 days before moving to another trade.

That seems reasonable. One of them was a personal email to someone I know of from trading with/ on the boards.....do you give the same amount of time for that?

It depends, really. If they haven't responded, I might resend my request and set my software to request a receipt when it's been read. That way I know when they've checked email. But, I'd probably still give them the 48 hours anyway.

There are two parties in the pintrade:
The requestor is in the "aggressive" position.
The possessor is in the "passive" position.

The same person, put in the two positions at different times, operates from different perceptions.

As the aggressive party, I am tapping my foot, hitting <i>refresh</i> on my inbox every 30 seconds, waiting on a response to my email. I expect a response within 15 minutes....oh, OK, 24-48 hours is probably OK too.

As the passive party, I have to think through and research the request. I have to consult with pinpals, rearrange my traders in reverse Pinpics order, put on my special pintrading hat and watch Lilo & Stitch backwards in Portugese. I am easily distracted by more pressing questions like, "will Raul wear white to AZJeff's daughter's wedding?" So, I'll get around to answering your request to trade when the right moment hits me, when the pin karma <i>feels</i> right, when....oh, OK, within 24-48 hours.

Ah Robyn.....I loved your answer! You are correct.....I rec'd a TA request this am that I am letting my brain absorb and process......when I am certain.....then I will reply, probably by tonite, if only for the simple reason I can't stand stuff sitting in my IN BOX hehehehehe. If I know for sure NO WAY, then I will respond right away.

So, okay......I am sitting......and waiting.......tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh.......

I have a question regarding trading on Pinpics. When you put a trade request in to other members through the trade assistant do you get to see who you are asking?

Hi,

If you go into the my pinpics area, there is a link that says

"My pending trade requests" or words to that effect, if you click on it it will list each user id and how many requests you are sending to them,
It also has an option to delete a request to an individual, so if you are after one particular pin, you dont need to bug someone that you have already asked and has said no thanks

I think you may have sent an e-mail to me, right? I remember opening it but then life took over. My mind hasn't been working too well on trades lately....so if it was me, please do not hold a pin for me...I would feel terrible! Go and get what you need!

I did send you a request Sharon, but it wasn't you I had in mind when I wrote this post.

I was referring to someone I sent an email to about a week ago. But I will give her more time.....like you mentioned....sometimes life gets the best of us!
