AFTER WDW opens back up

I'm hoping to go in either Sept. or Oct. I'd probably go sooner if they opened sooner but we have a lot of camping to catch up on. Haven't even visited our RV since Feb., As soon as it's safe we need to pull it down to hubby's parents in south Ga. and have a long visit with them then I need some beach time.

Masks or no Masks, we are there July or August if they are open. I told my DH, wouldn’t it be kinda silly to take a picture in front of the castle with masks on. It would be a treasured memory. Lol

Pardon if you already know this, but some of the state parks are offering free hookups in exchange for volunteer services. Might give you a camping option before then....

I'm thinking next summer to Disneyland only.

Right now, in a far off hypothetical sense, I am thinking summer 2021 most likely Disneyland, too. But we'd maybe consider WDW if all the variables work out the right way. DLR is within driving distance for us and of course doesn't require all of the 6 month ADRS and 60 day FP+ reservation stuff, so it's a much easier trip to cancel if needed. I figure we'll see where things are in Dec (6 months out from the potential trip) and decide about WDW then.

It feels crazy to even need to wait that long to decide. Crazy times.

I could hardly get through a 30 minute grocery run with a mask on. I will not wear one all day at a theme park .

100% agree with this. I wore a mask for a 2.5 hour volunteering shift the other day outside in beautiful mid-60s weather and it was unpleasant. I could definitely not do it in FL heat and humidity all day.

IF they are open, we will go in either July or August. Will I be nervous about getting sick? Maybe a little. Hard to say. We will cancel if masks are required. I can't possibly imagine wearing a mask in 90 degree plus heat and humidity all day when masks are hugely uncomfortable on a grocery run in the northeast when it's 50 degrees outside. I could never get my toddler and preschooler to wear masks all day. The other thing that will make me cancel is if a lot of rides, shows, and other entertainment are cut or closed. Disney is far too expensive for a watered down product. Right now I'm worried that between Governor Newsom's plan for CA and the FL surgeon general saying we can't be in crowds until a vaccine, I am hugely questioning if any Disney parks will open at all this summer... And maybe even this year. I was feeling more hopeful with news that the curve was flattening but now it feels a bit hopeless again if life looks more like this for the next 12 to 18 months.

Not sure how anyone can answer “right away” other than doing it out of blind desperation for WDW. Depends on when they open and what things look like. What every different state has to say. How airlines are operating.

This isn’t just the elderly. It’s the overweight and obese (and not to be rude but that’s majority of America and Disney visitors from what I’ve seen), smokers, anyone with a compromised immune system. You already have a cold, you are compromised. I am not being a doomsdayer here, I think we can learn to live with the virus, but the complete disregard for the health of yourself or others I am seeing from some Disney fanatics is a little troubling. Have some chill.

We are planning August but no qualms moving it depending on how things look months from now. If restrictions are lifted and WDW has it figured out and we are still healthy both physically and financially then I’ll look forward to it.

💯 true. Several articles have stated that depending on the county, 66-80 percent of the infected in severe condition are overweight. To be overweight is only a BMI of 30 too....I think way more Americans fall into that category than we'd like to think.

Local here... I live in Winter Garden which is just out the back gate of Disney... where they are building Flamingo Bay, and all the new Dorms for Disney... I live just a few exits away down the 429

We are AP holder with no restrictions.. so I could see us going right away, like the day or weekend they open back up whatever that might look like... I am thinking that Disney Springs might open first... we will definitely be going right away to have lunch or dinner maybe both... and do some shopping... I can see lots of Locals like us, getting out to support our community... Disney and it's Cast Member are part of our community...

However or whenever you make the decision to come... It's your choice... you have to make the best decision based on what your think is right for you and yours...how you are going to handle it and what precautions you are going to use and be okay with it, and not hold Disney responsible they are going to do the best that they can do, and with Disney they always go above and beyond to take care of and protect the guest....
It's really not for anyone to judge what someone else decides to do for their family... like you they have to make that decision for their family and themselves...

I could see alot of hand sanitizer stations, maybe before entering the ride car and on the way out of the rides and shows... as well when entering a restaurant like on a cruise ship when entering the dinning room... maybe even wiping the bars downs when you exit a ride...

I think that parades and fireworks might have to wait... for a while...

Menus are another thing that will need to be address, on how to clean them...

I am a hand-washer, and some what of a germaphobe... and I'm that lady with the disinfecting wipes that most people have been giving the side eye to for years and years..... maybe I wasn't so crazy after all...In QS wiping down the tables and chairs, and I have even wiped down tables at TS lots of times, especially at the Buffets...I wipe down the resort or hotel rooms when we travel, not just upon arrival but daily when we return to the room - the housekeeper could be sick... The first time DH and I flew together was when we were engaged, he was like what are you doing, when I started wiping down the seat, tray table/seat back, the window... basically the whole area... I was like they never clean this stuff... so I pulled his tray table down and wiped across it, and showed him the "stuff" on the tray... he has been on board ever since... I will admit I might go a little far with it sometimes... I carry a baggie with disinfecting wipes with me all the time, way before this ever happened... Nothing beats soap and water... wash your hands, hand sanitizer is a good tool to help you until you can wash your hands... how many times have you seen someone come out of stall in the restroom and not wash their hands... sooo.. maybe a bathroom monitor is going to be needed like in elementary school, or a siren going off pointing to the person... and/or a net falling from the ceiling or coming from the floor scooping them up and carrying them back to a sink to wash their hands... all these could be methods are just a thought for those who don't wash their hands. :crazy2:

Everyone should take personal responsibility for themselves and family...

Air travel is going to have to step up their game .... Having the plane really cleaned between flights... like a crew of people that come on board and clean... wiping down with a high grade disinfecting liquid or spray on all the touch points which on a plane is pretty much everything... I would think that wearing a mask on a plane for the most part will become the new norm... for a while at least...

Ga. State Parks are actually still open but nothing around them is. While we like to hike and be in nature we also like to visit sites around where we are camped. Since I'm already ready to kill my honey just being cooped up in a 3 story house with him, a 35 ft. RV might push me over the edge.o_O

Here in Ontario the provincial parks are all closed, as well as all the campgrounds, so we don't even have that option. :sad2:

And also because Shanghai has onlt DTD and the DL Hotel open, with temp checks and masks required.

I see people saying that Disney will always go above and beyond to ensure safety, but if you followed how they handled the ABD England/France and Australia tours in March, you might not feel so confident.

Today I called for AP clarification on partial refunding. Was told that she was hopeful for June open and thought that was when we’d know how much we d get for our partial refund. ( they won’t know any until park opens) When I followed up with questions about June. The cm then said, she had no real Answer and to just check online. Lol
So... for those hoping to return ...maybe early summer?
Hubby already said, nope.. no return this year. I’m already going thru withdrawal lol and binging Disney flicks. Today, “Onward”... which I enjoyed
Stay healthy all!

Either I get the virus now and live or get the virus now and die, I WILL live my life and not be a prisoner to fear, panic, paranoia or natural selection.

I will however be a slave to the original dole whip float, turkey leg and Ohana bread pudding less than 30 days after Disney re-opening. you are just as likely to get this thing from the grocery store than Disney.

This shelter at home must end before babies materialize.
Well said!

A lot of the states have closed down their state parks and some (if not all) of the National Parks are closed. Our local city parks are closed in the town I live in but the Georgia State Parks have decided to stay open for campers. They have closed all the public facilities like laundry rooms and bathrooms, beaches, etc. but the actual campgrounds are open.

I wonder if Disney has gone thru deep cleaning. After being closed for 4 weeks, can't have too many germs around, the first bunch of people would probably be safer at disney, then the local walmart.

We cancelled our May 9 trip, but rebooked (but not club level 😢 ) early Nov.

Comfort level - as soon as it opens or at least very close to open date. Although, I would wait to go until all parks, hotels and Disney Springs is open. Personally, I feel it will open in stages for multiple reasons and that it may take a few months to be back operationally.
