I' m taking a large group down to Disney for the Princess Marathon, the ladies will be running, more than likely they will not be finishing at the same time due to their differing abilities. One of them wondered how we would all meet up after the race since, none of them would have cell phones. Can someone explain to me the D Tag system for races and if it still works after the race. I have never been involved with a marathon at Disney so I am completely in the dark on this one. Should I just tell them all to meet at a certain location and hope for the best?

Should I just tell them all to meet at a certain location and hope for the best?

I would do that, for sure, even if they DID have cell phones or other communication.

That covers any problems that might come up like a dead battery, etc.

If my wife and I split up for shopping, or similar, we always say, "I'll call your cell when I'm ready to meet you.
But, just in case, I'll meet you at X at Y time."

For the 5k you start and end at the same place. Do you know if that's the case for yours? If so, before you get in line, look around and pick a place to meet. It's mad chaos at the end, and it's impossible to find people without a plan.

Have fun and good luck!

I'm pretty sure the princess 1/2 follows the same route as the half marathon in january.

And I'm also pretty sure there will be some sort of gear bag check. Basically, you'll get a bag at the expo. In this bag you can put dry socks, clean clothes, cell phone, wallet etc. After the race you can get your bag (that you dropped off before the race) and get your personal items.

The busses will generally frop you off near the finishing area, so if you arrive at the race start together, just pick a meeting spot that morning, and use cell phones as backup.

Good luck.

From disney's website

Baggage Claim
There will be a baggage drop off location at the race start for participants. Attach the bottom tear tag of your bib number to your bag when you drop it off at Baggage Claim. Your race bib number will be used to verify your bag when you pick it up at Baggage Claim.

here is the course

If you place your cells inside the bag, make sure you put them in a ziploc bag first. During the EE Challenge in the fall it poured and unfortunately, lots of the bags got wet and some cell phones did not make it.

I think it would be great to meet at the end around the time the last few ladies would finish. It's a good chance that the "slower" ones would love to have some friends cheering them on near the end of the race.

Right, there should be some stands. You could arrange to meet at stand # whatever and cheer on the other runners!
